shite, if HBO didn't have movies I wouldn't subscribe to them either now that they have a stand alone subscription service that can also be dropped after a month. I would simply wait for the season of whatever show to be done, subscribe for the month, and then drop it once I burned through them.

See as much of a streamer as I am, I don't get HBO Go. At least not now. Too expensive for what it is. But again, if Netflix narrows, I may look for different options.

Just curious about this -

If I want to watch The Godfather, what service do I use to push play?

My son is two, but in a few years, he'll be ready to watch Star Wars. What service do I use to show it to him?

If these movies (and others) aren't available on Netflix or any other streaming service and the old video stores are gone, where do I get movies from?

Paying $29 for a blu-ray is an option, but frick that option.

This is the big problem with cutting up licenses. Tracking down content is going to get harder and harder.

Hopefully the Roku's and Microsofts of the world start finding ways to build searches and queues directly into their products. They can do it with channels and clearly downloaded content. But it's hard to do it with streaming content. Legally.

I think people want 2 or 3 services to cover their Movie and TV needs, at least those that do cut the cable, not 5 or 6. I'm not sure this fits that mold, but it could make Netflix a major player in the HBO space, where they are currently trending.

when you factor in the cost of internet service + 5-6 streaming services it will put you pretty close to what cable costs I'd think.

I agree with most of what the guy from Netflix said. Most of those movies are available just about everywhere else

Narcos is getting decent buzz on this board, but it was just released. I bet it dies down in a week or 2 and then we only see a random thread about it once every month or 2 as opposed to the busy weekly threads for hit shows released more traditionally.

To combat this from happening im still shocked they dont release ALL of their original content on a one episode per week basis. I know they did it with at least one show and then instead of binge watching a new season in 3 days, talking about it for a week, then it being gone and over with. You watched an episode a week and actually have some build up and it continues to go for 10 weeks

iTunes Store.

For Star Wars, I would seriously consider torrenting the "De-Specialized" Version that a fan has been putting together over the past few years. LINK

This is a reconstruction of the 1977 theatrical version of STAR WARS. The original shots were painstakingly restored using various sources (listed below) and the film received an extensive shot by shot colour correction based on a fade free 1977 I.B. Technicolor Print.

The remastered (v2.0) version represents a significant improvement in picture quality over the earlier version.

Version v2.1 further improves upon the previous version mainly by refining the color correction but also by replacing many of the despecialized shots with higher quality ones.

Version v2.5 offers few more little tweaks to the picture and contains an unprecedented number of audio options, including lossless DTS-HD tracks for the original mixes, an isolated score, four different commentary tracks and dubbing tracks in ten different languages and dialects.

NetFlix DVDs by mail

I honestly had no idea you could still do this

I still use the mail option for blu rays. Greatly prefer a blu ray to streaming especially for blockbusters.
