ASOIAF fever is hitting me again.

Which moment really hits you in the gut more than the other...no matter how many times you see it?

I go back and forth. I have no great answer but maybe you do.

PS - spoilers for those still living in a cave.

Ned Stark

I wasn't upset about the Red Wedding. I was getting tired of the "Rob Stark is a king" storyline. He clearly wasn't ready for those boots yet.

Rob dug his own grave.

Ned was the Honorable man faced with insurmountable odds of back stabbers and power hungry political elites.

most surprising moment was neither. It was when we learned the white walkers were dead.

Red Wedding. One of the great "holy shite" moments in TV history. I hadn't read the books yet so it took me completely by surprise.

This is still funny as shite, though.

Has to be Ned. By the time we got to the Red Wedding, we are pretty much used to the fact that anyone can die at any time..

Ned looked to be the hero of the whole series for a while.

Red Wedding.

Might have been Ned had not Sean Bean been the actor. Guy has to die early in pretty much everything, right?

When Ned died I was in shock. When Robb died I was pissed. I threw the book across my living room

Definitely Ned as I was a Hodor going in. I thought it was a show, mostly about Ned as protagonist. Hah.

Ned due to the complete shock. I had never read a story where the main character bites it so early in the series. I honestly thought somebody was going to save him at the last second.

Red wedding was something I saw coming. There were a lot of moments where it was obvious to me they were setting him up. I was really pissed when I discovered I was right, but I still had a sense of this kind of shite happens in this series that helped prepare. Except when they made you think Arya was dead. Lot of cursing and throwing stuff when the Hound dropped his axe. I picked it back up an hour later and skimmed ahead with the mindset that I was done if she was really dead as well.

Well that's assuming he was actually killed.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I think there may be a divide here between people who read the books first and people who saw the show first. I saw the show first and I'm going with the Red Wedding.

Ned's death was shocking because it was a show killing off the guy who seemed to be the most important character at the time.

The Red Wedding was mind blowing because it was a show ending what seemed to be the most important storyline less than halfway through the series with the bad guys winning decisively.

Ned was a fish out of water in King's landing. He played himself

I've only seen the show and I went with Ned Stark.

I'm sure there are people who disagree with me. That said, I do feel as though the Red Wedding generated a stronger fan base response.

Ned dug his own grave moreso than Rob did

Ned's honor started a massive war that got most of his family and bannerman killed. Not to mention Arya and Sansa

Robs biggest mistake was chopping off a Karstarks head because Catlyn stark decided to give away Jamie lanister for a promise which led him back to the freys

I agree.

It was definitely shocking, but I had no problem with it. That storyline was getting boring.
