First movie they describe raptors as intelligent "thinkers" how they attacked the wall in different spots to find a weakeness. That they could "remember" what had happened in the past and learned from it.

So yes in the first movie they made a point to describe how intelligent the raptors were.

Overall, solid summer movie!
Definitely liked how they paid homage to the first film, pretty cool.
Dinosaurs way more intense than any of the first 3 films.
Pratt didn't take over the film, was able to blend in nicely.
Acting and dialogue had me a little worried at beginning but after that it was fine
Pretty good stand alone film and a sequel may not even be necessary and I'm not sure how they would do it after this installment, they left a slight opening but it would be impossible to make any better version of a dinosaur
The one in the water might be even more bad arse than the other

Thanks pretty good review, makes me interested in seeing the movie. The early RT scores are very decent in the high 80s. It will eventually drop to low 80s, im guessing, but a B score is still very solid for a movie redone this many times. Sounds like and adventure that needs to be seen in theater and im excited to go.

You absolutely have to see it in theaters. It was amazing. Not perfect, but just a fun movie with so many things thrown in o call back to the original (some subtle and some not so subtle).

I may go see it again this weekend

Agree with your whole post. it delivered how you hope it could.

I hated the Vincent D'Onofrio story-line. He is a great actor sure, but he's so artificially one dimensional. They use him as a catalyst to move the story along and it just feels forced and pretty unappealing and with all the movie does right, I felt this stood out. They could have come up with something much more clever.

Totally agree. I understand his role in the InGen/Jurassic World universe, but in regards to the plot, it felt like he was given too much importance.

I hope if they do make a sequel it doesn't turn into fast and furious type movie with dino warfare.

I'd like to see something involving Isla Sorna.

I thought it was good not great.

Pros:
• The CGI Dinosaurs and the Island looked awesome.
• Chris Pratt did a great job.

Cons:
• The bad guy who's idea was to use the raptors as a military weapon. Terrible concept IMO
• The two kids were bad. The brother and sister combo in the first one was way better. Better acting and you actually liked them. I kinda wanted both those kids to get eaten in this movie.
• There were a lot of parts where I thought to myself that would never happen. Maybe it's cause I was a kid when I saw the first one but I pretty much remember it all being believable. For example when they took off with the "trained" raptors to attack super dino or when the chick runs out with her heels still on and the flare in her hand.

I'm sure if I was eight I would have thought it was the greatest movie ever made. Obviously this movie is geared at kids so I can't be too harsh. I still enjoyed it but the first one still stands as a better overall movie IMO.

Why would this never happen? They were essentially trained to do just that. They were given a smell to find, so they went and found it. And I don't think it's unreasonable to think they'd attack whatever they found.

ETA: Didn't veen get to this part:

If by kids you mean the kid inside of adults that were kids when the original came out, sure. This movie was way too violent and gory to be aimed at kids. The I-Rex splattered some guys blood all over the camera at one point.

ehh... I guess.

I think kids get exposed to that stuff more now than they did 20 years ago. It was geared to parents who loved the movie as a kid and wanted to take their kid to see it.

edit: so i guess in some way it was geared to both.

The sister is the first movie was annoying as shite, I wanted her to be eaten every scene she was in. I don't know if I can handle someone who is actually worse than her in the original

the money alone will demand a sequel but the story will be hard to create and the changing characters which hurt the first three will be there as well

Well, they had to try something different. You can't create another carbon copy of Jurassic Park. I didn't have a problem with it. Although some of the scenes with Hoskins kidna ventured into Sci-Fy type stuff, but thats bound to happen at some point with this genre.

I actually thought the kid's, especially the older brother were great. The character development of the older brother throughout the movie, especially taking on the role of taking care of his brother was pretty good.

I don't remember catching this in the movie, but several people on reddit are saying the younger brother was autistic in the movie?

The Raptors are not "trained". I think the movie made that pretty clear that they could instantly turn on Owen. They respected him more than any other human because he was with them from birth supposedly. If the guards would've fired on them during the pig scene, I think its pretty safe to say the Raptors would've never trusted Owen again.

I don't remember them saying anything about that, and I don't even really see where it was implied,.

I see it. They improve lied it when he had all the random stuff memorized and acting socially awkward. There's a line about him being a genius. The evidence isn't great but I can see the conclusion.

I really didn't like Zara's death. She wasn't a bad guy. She was dealing with bratty kids who kept acting douchey to her. Way to cruel to happen to an innocent person really.

Adding on to this, there was much more dino-human carnage in this movie than I expected.

This seems to be a hot button topic on the subreddit, and I just don't care. I think getting ripped in two by the I Rex is at the very least just as unpleasant.
