The new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 came out on Netflix today.

Just watched the first movie, Reptilicus. It takes a while for the new crew to get going, but they really hit their stride by the second half. Very promising start.

Also, Patton Oswalt was born for the role of TV's Son of TV's Frank.

As someone who watched MST3k back in the 90s and beyond, I'm very nervous about this.

I'm going in.

I used to record them on vhs tapes and watch them over and over. I loved that show and the movie.

Was just out of college in 94 and it was on Comedy Central at 11 pm every night. I fell in love.

MST3K is up there for me and I hope they do this right.

I always caught on Sci fi on the weekends. I'm on the back side of 30 and still do lookalikes when I go to restaurants.

Watched the first two episodes earlier. I enjoy it and don't regret giving $2500 to their funding.

I was a little too young to catch it on TV, but I've probably watched almost every episode.

It captures the feel of the original series really well, with a few modern tweaks. I enjoyed the first two episodes.

Only big issue to me is that they seem to cram too many riffs together at times... which makes sense. They've got huge shoes to fill and haven't done it for years like peak MST3K had.

I am at the end of the first episode and it feels great to have this back on. Like comfort food in a way.

The 1 thing that's throwing me off is servo's voice.

Just so used to Murphy's voice

Servos voice is fine. I just don't like him flying around in the theater.

Gypsy's voice is what bothered me and the crowd I watched it with.

Other than those two fairly minor quibbles, we all thought it was a worthy successor to the original. And I hear episode 2 is an instant classic.

Season 11's main antagonist is Alabama born and bred.

I was also very nervous. Gave the first episode a chance. Whole family (except wife) loved it.

Started off slow but by the mid point of the first episode it was like they never left. Jonah reading fan mail from kids was a nice touch from the Joel days. Crow sounds spot on, Servo not so much but it's not terrible by any means. It took me 3 host segments to realize that Servo's arms work now. The hovering around the theater may take some getting use to but it allows more interaction with the movie. Really liked the bonehead crew working for the Mad's and as much as I hate Patton Oswalt's political ramblings, he's very talented and was born to be Tv's Son of Tv's Frank.

And this is awesome...
