Ender's Game was an abysmal abortion of epic proportions.

a couple here already mentioned:
World War Z
I am Legend

This won't be popular, but Lonesome Dove didn't compare with the books. I love the series, but the books are even better, with the Texas Bull and Blue Duck's character being even more ruthless than the movie portrayed

The Shining

I actually prefer the movie, maybe it's more nostalgia as I read the book much later. The sequel to the Shining by Stephen King was actually a pretty awesome audiobook

I'm going pretty nerd here, but Max Payne was a badass video game with a cool story. The movie was steaming hot garbage. Very disappointed.

As far as adaptations from novels, Interview With a Vampire was underwhelming. Also "It" didn't pan out as well on the big screen for me. Hopefully The Dark Tower is done right

Pretty much every Stephen King adaption

I think Shawshank Redemption movie was close if not better than the book.

I'll go with The Road.

I tried listening to the audiobook and couldn't understand WTF was going on, so I bailed on it. I guess I'm just slow.

Dune is a pretty heavy read. In a lot of passages, you really have to slow down and reconnect it with other information that is presented, not to mention the terms used in the book at least have an appendix in the back. I don't know how anyone could just listen to it.

The Percy Jackson movie was garbage and really just took a ridiculous amount of liberties from the material.

I remember being extremely upset during Goblet fo Fire when they skipped the Quidditch world cup game

One movie that literally copied the book on screen was Because of Winn Dixie. Had to watch it for a class and it literally felt like it was line for line from the book.

Hold my beer.

League of Extraordinary Gentleman was an awesome comic series and Hollywood wiped their collective arse with every page.

It would either be cheesy and shitty (like the movie and the SyFy series)

I thought the SyFy series was much better than the David Lynch movie. Granted, I've never read the Dune novels.

Besides, the "Children of Dune" movie was the first place that I saw that future, past-time Professor X.

Harry Potter

All of the Harry Potter movies are okay and I enjoy them, but the books will always blow them out of the water.

Robert Langdon series

Read all of the books and I love them to death, but the movies are all pretty meh. They aren't horrible or unwatchable or anything, just don't really do the books justice

The Giver

Just watch the movie

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Movie was alright, but the book w/ the photos of the characters make it an story pretty much impossible to replicate.
