Season 4 of Arrested Development will consist of more episodes than originally planned thanks to Netflix ordering more instalments of the cult comedy.

According to Deadline, while the new series of Mitch Hurwitz's show was meant to be comprised of just 10 episodes, this has now been increased to between 12 and 15.
Hurwitz supposedly shot more material than planned when filming the original 10 episodes, and came up with ideals for additional scenes and storylines in case such a scenario arose. With filming having wrapped after Thanksgiving however, the actors are now mostly tied up with other projects. As a result, production has been paused so Hurwitz can take stock of what footage he already has and figure out the best way to seamlessly integrate new arcs into the existing episodes.

Filming is currently planned to resume in January, which means the show is mercifully still on track for its proposed spring premiere.

Never watched this show or even know much about it.

Might give it a try on Netflix.

At least make it a few episodes. The first few didn't have me hooked like the back half of season 1 did and the 2nd season >>>> the 1st. Just so you know.

If you're a fan of dry/subtle comedy, do it. It's one of the funniest and smartest shows I've ever seen.

The jokes on the show are layered like filo dough. There is always so much going on, if you're looking for it.

And Bob Loblaw's Law Blog

I died the first time I heard that.

Favorite all time is when Michael tells Tobias to listen to what he says

Arrested Development is one of those shows that you can watch 5+ times and always catch something new.

And just like that, this thread has turned into an Arrested Development quotefest, which is okay with me.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I LOVE AD, it's actually one of my 3 favorite tv shows of all time. But like Seinfeld, it went out on top and didn't end up getting stale and old like SO many other shows out there, including some doing it right now. I know 3 seasons isn't very many, but it had a resolution. I just feel like waiting what, like 6 or 7 years? after the fact then adding more episodes will just take some of the luster and allure away from AD.

With that said, I am still excited as hell to watch though.
