Anybody watch this? I know there's some baws on here that know the Blanchardes.
DeeDee was pretty fricked up. I feel sorry for Gypsy Rose, but she's pretty fricked up too.
Generation Why podcast also did an episode on this story last week.

I watched this last week. Probably one of the most fricked up docs I've seen in a while. Just the whole thing. Mom, daughter, bf. It's a wild ride.

It was really disturbing. That poor girl didn't have a chance. Her mother might have well put a cinder block on top of her head to keep her from growing. I can't get over that she pulled all this shite over on doctors -- that no one realized this girl could walk and she didn't have cancer.

This was what I could not understand. I'm fighting stage 4 colon cancer right now. I can't walk NEAR a doctor's office without them poking me and draining vile upon vile of blood. Makes no sense.

Just a strange story. Two random thoughts after finishing:
It's almost impossible to form any solid opinion of that girl. She was basically imprisoned, drugged, and tortured her entire life. On top of that, her mom's manipulation is bound to have rubbed off on her, and there's no way of telling if she's ever capable of being honest about anything. Just creepy.
I'm also thinking that any decent defense attorney could have gotten the murder charges dropped or seriously reduced further. After hearing the full story, I don't see how a jury could have faulted the girl for trying to kill her mom.
Just really messed up all around.

I'm waiting to watch this, so I don't know if the info is in the film, but where was the family from in Louisiana?

Lafourche Parish. Didn't say specifically.
The crime occurred in Springfield, MO.

I wonder how that girl is going to deal with life once she's released from prison. She's been controlled all her life and it continues until she gets out. It's all she knows

An article I read said she is going to live with her father, so hopefully he watches after her. I can see her getting pregnant within a year of being released, though.

DeeDee was pretty fricked up.
My favorite part was when maw-maw and paw-paw were relaying the discussion about what to do with her ashes:
"Flush dat in da toilet, Cher."
Stright the frick up. And they lol'd.

Yeah that was the best part.
"She poison me with dat stuff you put in da plants. I was in bed fa 9 months. And she even wrote some bad checks in Slidel."

We watched this last night while eating dinner. Big mistake.
When they kept showing those raunchy photos that she sent to the Wisconsin dude, I nearly puked it all up.
Also, I can MAYBE understand doctors falling for the Mom's stories and prescribing some meds that they shouldn't, but how in the world do you cut open a girl and install a feeding tube without verifying that it is absolutely necessary?

Wisconsin dude probably went to Burger King with those pics and jerked off for 10 hours

Documentaries like that make me seriously doubt free will, an equal shot at life, and even a higher being to an extent. Absolutely insane documentary
