Michelle MacLaren in talks to direct Wonder Women

The Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones director is in talks.

There was a time when a way to write, in code, that a movie was a potential train wreck was to combine the phrase "feature film debut" with "previously has only directed television." Well, as you may have heard, we are in a new golden age of television, and that math no longer necessarily adds up. Take, for example, the news this week that TV producer/director Michelle McCLaren is now in talks with Warner Bros to make her feature film debut with Wonder Woman. That's one way to tell the story, but another would be to say that Michelle McClaren was the director of such recent hours of television as four episodes of Game of Thrones, three episodes of The Walking Dead (including the S2 episode where Rick "killed" [SPOILER]), and a whopping 11 episodes of Breaking Bad (including four from S5 with some of the most important plot beats). For her work on Breaking Bad, Michelle McClaren has been Emmy-nominated twice as director, and won two Emmys as producer. Instead, most of the press has focused on McClaren's gender (if she signs on, McClaren will be the second female director of a major comic book adaptation, after Lexi Alexander on Punisher: War Zone). Gal Gadot will star as Wonder Woman when the solo movie is released on June 23, 2017, after first appearing as the character in 2016 in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

No complaints about that.

Not bad. I still hate this part:

Maybe they can CGI some muscles. Peter Jackson would do it.

Just another DC truck wreck movie.
The moment it had to have a woman director it was game over.

I agree its ridiculous to limit the director choice based on gender but you can't really complain about this choice

This. Her resume is solid. Nothing wrong with the choice...
Too bad she'll be directing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman: Kid's Meal Edition.

Except when they picked one that is better then some of the men out there that could've been chosen.
Don't agree on the limitation but to call it game over with MacLaren directing is silly.

I still say that 1) Let's wait until we see Gal Gadot in action as Wonder Woman before blasting her and 2) Zoe Saldana, in Guardians of the Galaxy, wasn't body-builder looking as Gamora, yet still looked badass and kicked arse. And if the promo image of Gadot as WW is anything like how she'll look in the film, I'm fine with it. And I say this completely with the caveat that Gadot isn't who I would have picked as WW, as I had boarded the Alexandra Daddario train initially, as she could have channeled Linda Carter quite well.

Geez, she might be fine as an action star. That isnt the complaint. She doesnt fit the visual of the character, outside of being tall-ish with dark hair.

Can you explain how she doesn't fit the look of Wonder Woman? In terms of build, you may be right, but that all depends on how she looks in motion on screen compared to early on set images and such. She has undoubtedly been working out through filming, and if anyone recalls, in 1977 when Superman: The Movie was being filmed, Chris Reeve began the role not looking as bulky as he looked later in filming.
And in her face alone, Wonder Woman is supposed to look foreign and exotic. Gadot looks like what WW is supposed to look like, i.e. not American. Is she going to do the role justice? I don't know, as I haven't seen the film or any official film clips from the movie. I am simply giving her the benefit of the doubt at this stage.

Actually there have been many adaptations of a skinny WW. People would just rather a built one.

Try again.
She was definitely designed to look American. No actress fully fits the look, closest is probably Carano. She is an inch shorter than Gadot, but has the muscle, the jawline, and the breasts to be WW.

What adaptations? Most animated versions present her not female bodybuilder built but still strongly proportioned. And Linda Carter and the failed TV pilot are the only real adaptations, and neither Carter or Adrianne Palicki are super skinny.

I'm on a phone. They're out there though, look it up.

She wasn't all that built in the latest Justice League: War animated movie.

Ok. First came Super Friends Wonder Woman. Original design, again, not bodybuilder bulky, but the comics beforehand never had her as super built either, but not really skinny. Later Super Friends design was a bit more built. Next came Ruby Spears Superman cartoon design, which was same as last season Super Friends. Much later came the Bruce Timm Justice League cartoon design. Again, not bulky built but NOT super skinny. All DCU Animated films stick somewhat with the build of Timm's original designs. Those represent every animated WW presentation. Linda Carter and Adrianne Palicki are the only well known live action Wonder Women. Two others were in two other pilots, but as both were very different than comics WW, not worth mentioning.
So again, what "skinny WW" are you referring to?

I knew it was going to be PC and downplay the sex-appeal and Russ Meyer-ish of Wonder Woman.
This chick needs implants pronto...instead they will make her look flat and lame like Elektra and she'll be too buff probably.
Wonder Woman isn't buff...she doesn't rely on brute strength.
1) Big Boobs
2) Uses her technical skills
3 Relies on her supernatural ability and other gadgets like Batman
4) Hourglass figure and soft bouncing flesh

Look at those images you posted. Her legs especially. She is drawn to look pretty strong in that film. And she was definitely drawn tall in that as well. That design is on par with most versions of Wonder Woman in the comics, where she is rarely drawn as being crazy overly built.
