Mel Brooks Planning ‘Spaceballs: The Search for More Money’ TEASER POSTER

Reddit exploded earlier tonight with this unconfirmed post that alleges that Brooks is developing the hilariously appropriately titledSpaceballs: The Search for More Money. Brooks apparently revealed the news on an unidentified (as of this writing) podcast.
According to the post, Brooks hopes to get Rick Moranis to return as ‘Dark Helmet,’ a spoof ofStar Wars‘ Darth Vader. Unfortunately, Moranis hasn’t acted in nearly a decade making this a potential pipe dream.
Personally, I love the idea of seeing the great Yogurt return, but am bummed there’s no way to see John Candy as ‘Barf.’

No point in doing it now. Sequels made this long after the original are almost never good. As the title would suggest, this is just a search for more money.

I'm guessing the person who wrote that article has no idea that the title Spaceballs: The Search For More Money was a line from the original movie poking fun at sequels.

Would be awesome if they did it right. Just hope its not like Dumb and Dumber To which was a disappointment after such a long wait.

If that The Teaser Poster is true it looks like Dark Helmet has bit the dust on the Planet of the Apes. I would assume this means that Moranis wasn't interested in returning and now Mel has a young nerdy Jewish actor to play the Kylo Ren spoof.

So would it be crass for Brooks to have Barf be a fully CGI character that's really terribly done and over the top with someone doing a bad John Candy voice? He'll do all the actors that have passed away as terrible CGI creations. I think John would've gotten a kick out of that and it pretty much perfectly spoofs Georges CGI obsession.
