Holy shite. The first 25 minutes in, I was thinking this episode kept hitting and hitting. This was one of the best hours of the entire series.

As said, I was pretty much hating Don this season, all the way to when he took Cali from Stan like a total a-hole. And just like that, the switch got flipped and now I want Don to wreck their shite

Joan has been a count from day 1, but I can't believe Roger. Or Ted for that matter, considering Don saved his arse.

They had some unreal scenes and lines in this one. Pete and his brother was hilarious. Loved that Don went to his old hood.

I can't wait till next season, but I really don't want the show to end.

Pete's going to California and Don's not. I don't think they even know each other's plans.

I feel like I missed something last night with Pete. It seems like he went from telling Clara he was done in Detroit to telling Trudy he was moving to California.

I agree..felt like a whole scene was deleted or something like that.

Be a very weird dynamic if him and Teddy are out there next year.

not to derail here, but did anyone see the "Low Winter Sun" preview? Looks like it could be pretty good. So we have that and the Bridge starting next month.

I think you could say that about a few of the developments throughout the season, but I kind of enjoy how Mad Men just gives you the info and you can draw out how it went down for yourself.

In this case, thought it was fairly simple. Bob Benson is the man in Detroit now after emasculating Pete in front of Chevy execs. Ted's heading out to Cali, but they need an account man to be there too. Pete really took to California back in Season 2 and has nothing holding him back in NY. Thus, he's jumping on the plane to California as well.

Great setup for the final season.

what's the deal with Pete's mom? Did this Manello guy really kill her or is that just Pete being Pete?

A few quotes from last night still have me cracking up. Don's flashback scene, " I would tell you to go to hell but I never want to see you again" and Pete with his "not great Bob" response to Bob Bensen in the elevator.

I'm not even going to try to wrap my head around the Pete/Bob/Manello situation.

Concerning Pete, I think we're just supposed to accept what Trudy spelled out for us. He's free now. One of the big things with Pete since the beginning of the series is he's never been in control of his life. He was always subject to his parents, Trudy, Trudy's parents etc. There was always the conflict of Pete's life and family contributing to his success but also hindering him. He hit a wall this season and for a while there it looked like it was going to end badly for him. Now he has genuine hope.

I'm more pissed today than I was last night. If they didn't put roger out to sea after he lost half their business in lucky strike and then lied to them about it for weeks they had no business doing that to don.

Have not seen this mentioned yet, but did anyone notice one of the last scenes, It was Peggy sitting in Don's Office (which is now her office, I would guess)?
Thought that was a really good scene, her just sitting back in the office chair looking around like she finally made it, even though how messed up everything is for her.

I noticed this as well and though of it as things to come.

Fwiw, I just finished the episode and I'm still processing that Hershey's scene. Also, the final scene with Don and all the kids was pretty impressive.

I have a feeling that next season will be the rise of Dick Whitman.

Vulture had a pretty good article with Elisabeth Moss regarding that scene and the gravity of it for her character. Very Godfather-esque where you get the scene of the protege sitting in the predecessors chair.

He went from Detroit to NY to Cali all in about 15 minutes...maybe he'll end up in Vegas instead. So, is he just going to LA without a job or care in the world? That spells trouble for ole petey

Wouldn't surprise me if Hersey came back. I think Don nailed the whole point in a very personal way. I wouldn't be shocked if thats a huge plot point going into next season. Hersey wants Draper, and Draper aint there.

I think the series will end with the original crew back together. I feel like Don will become Dick Whitman and come to peace with his personal life. Also, I think he will start an agency and pass it off to Peggy who has basically been his "work wife". So next season is definitely the last?
