What was there to settle?
The show very clearly explains itself and what happened (and how they weren't dead the whole time).
People are stupid.

I know, I couldn't believe that I had this argument with several people who have watched the entire series. I thought it was obvious!

Lindelof acknowledged that "maybe the cover of the hatch fell off a truck?" (And subsequently became his coffee table.)
ok...now that's cool
.....& OML's interwebs must be down, no way this thread goes this long without a chime in

It really just pisses me off that whenever these guys get interviewed about LOST ever since the finale, this is always the question: Were they/Why were they dead the whole time. Someone who actually knows alot about LOST and actually kept up with the hardcore fans should interview them about LOST for like an hour. Kimmel would be my choice, since he's a hardcore LOST nerd and definitely had the best relationship with them of any interviewer.

Got to put food on the table sometime, Stu.

The only mystery that interview solved was that they truly had no idea where they were going with the show and just threw shite against the wall to see what would stick.
I know we all figured this to be the case, but they admit it in the interview.

They've been pretty honest that during the first 12 episodes, they didn't have a fricking clue what they were doing and just wanted to make them the best 12 episodes as they possibly could be, so they threw everything they could at the Wall. They didn't have a clue why there was a polar bear on the Island, they just thought it was cool.

LOST is still my favorite show of all time and the question was never a question for anyone who had insight into the show and read the comments by producers after the finale.

So if they weren't dead the whole time, yet were all dead at the church, when did they all die?
Honest question.
Honest question.

they died throughout the show.
Charlie blew up
Jin and sun drowned
jack died in the field with Vincent watching over him
etc etc
the ones they didn't show on camera died eventually after the events on the island and before the flash sideways of season 6. we don't know how or when kate, Hurley, etc died, but they died before the events of the flash sideways.

As hard as it is to believe it's been nearly 10 years since it's debut, it's harder for me to believe it's been 4 years since The End.

It's like Christian said. "Everybody dies sometime kiddo."

As the series says:
quote:
Jack: Are you...are you real?
Christian: I sure hope so. I'm real, you're real, everything that happened to you is real. The people in that church, they're real.
Jack: And everyone else, they're all dead too?
Christian: Everyone dies sometime, kiddo. Some before you, some long after you.
Jack: Are they all here now?
Christian: Well, there is no NOW here.
