Though it isn't a competition I prefer Leo's performance. Both were very good, Hardy made you hate him and you pulled for Leo.

The movie is outstanding. Cinematography has to be among the best ever done. The brutalness of the land and weather really is captured. To me it is kind of a surreal movie though. Really enjoyed it on the big screen.

Thread worthy post. You should start a new thread for this to be discussed within. I would read it again.

Both were great but Hardy just had something else in his performance for me.

I'm a huge fan of Leo. Love damn near everything I've seen him in. He was great in the Revenant.. but Tom Hardy stole the show.

Trying to understand why someone that has no interest in the topic would take time to read post and then comment on it. Seems childish.....

Must not have anything of significance going on in their life. IDK

Though I agree with you, it's always easier to play the quirky minor character than it is to carry the movie.

I've continually said this about the Leo/Hardy talk and just about any other movie where a legit supporting actor "steals the show" from the main character. But especially in the Revenant wher Leo's character couldn't talk for an entire hour and half, while Hardy wasn't even on screen for an hour and a half of the movie

Leo's performance was better for the same reason Tom Cruise had the best performance in Rain Man - it's far easier to "steal the show" with a unique character with limited lines/appearences designed to steal the show than it is to be the main character, particularly if he is also the strait man, and have to put the movie on your back in every scene throughout the movie. That's why they separate Best Actor from Best Supporting Actor. They're two totally different degrees of difficulty. A running back can come in and throw a TD on a reverse halfback pass, and bravo, but that doesn't mean the guy could QB a whole game.

No. Hardy.

By the way, it was a shite movie, in comparison to the buildup and expectation. Total shite.

There should be a prerequisite discernment test to post on this board.

bum bump adum its Superman. It's this movie suppose to be base in the real, gritty, natural world. We are showed real life harsh environment and survival, but I remember times that ok if this is real he'd be dead, he'd be dead there, oh now he just jumped off a cliff just like this movie, dead.

Cinematography of awesome scenery is motion picture photography. It fits in well for the recent shallow and unimaginative movies being made now.

See I say Leo was Rain Man and Hardy was Cruise. Leo's was an 'easier' part because it was so much of a one trick acting performance. Just grunt and slobber for 2 hrs.

Hardy had to make you believe he was a mentally terrifying character in a limited, non physical role. Hardy was a more compelling, more complicated character than Leo also. You could've had a whole movie with his character. Leo was just "out for revenge"

All the great actors, if being honest, will say it's far harder to play mentally challenging parts than physically challenging parts.

Am i the only person who couldn't understand a single thing that Hardy said for the first 20 minutes lol. Like after the first half hour i could understand everything but it was really choppy early on
