Saw this last night on HBO. Haven't watched it in nearly 20 years. A lot better than I remember it being. Probably the first time Steve Martin played in a dramatic role. He's a con man posing an evangelist. His tour bus breaks down in some small Kansas town and they decide to put on a show. Liam Neeson plays the sheriff who is on to Martin's con from the beginning.
If I remember correctly, its underrated a bit because it was marketed as a Steve Martin comedy. Kind of like The Truman Show was for Jim Carrey.
It has a solid cast and pretty good story. If you want to add another dimension to the show, watch it as a dark sequel to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
