Kimmel is now a few thousand viewers off of Colbert which doesn't bode well for Colbert at all.

WEEK 15

Show...18-49...total viewers

11:35 p.m.-12:35 a.m.
Tonight (R)*...0.84/4...2.930 million
Late Sh (R)*...0.42/2...2.055 million
Kimmel (R)*...0.47/2...2.004 million

It takes a year or so for a Late Night host to find his legs, but Colbert has done a lot of damage to himself by turning to the Left so much.

He also was already a perfect late night host and decided to kill his loved and established character and format for something completely different. This alienated his diehard fanbase and his new schtick doesn't resonate with the late night show watchers.

If I couldn't stay up until Midnight to watch the national championship game on a week night, I sure in the frick am not going to stay up until midnight to watch any of this.

I dvr'ed the first few weeks - when he started injecting politics into the show I bailed, especially after Ghost played. I don't have time for Satanic garbage like that. I cancelled my TV service a few weeks ago and really don't count in ratings anymore - I'll watch a youtube clip of stuff if I hear about something, but I mostly don't give a crap anymore about celebrities and such enough to watch late night shows anymore.

I wish he'd just go back to The Colbert Report.

Why not just make "The Colbert Report at Night" on CBS.

Such a shitty loss Stewart and Colbert at almost the same time. They were better than any late night hosts ive seen.

CBS will stick with him.

The only broadcast late night change that I see in the foreseeable future is Corden getting the ax.

Unless Fallon self-destructs.

It's crazy that Kimmel is constantly in 3rd place. He's the best interviewer out of all of them. He doesn't come off as a try-hard like Colbert and he doesn't act like a teenager gushing over their boy band crush during interviews like Fallon. He also seems extremely likable. I don't get it.

Carson quit hosting in 1992, I was 4, so i cant comment on him.

The Colbert Report and The Daily Show with John Stewart are absolutely better shows than:

David Letterman
Jay Leno
Seth Meyers
Craig Ferguson
Jimmy Fallon
Arsenio Hall
George Lopez
Trevor Noah
Larry Wilmore

Kimmel and NBC Conan certainly give them a run for the money, but the guys above cant hold a candle to them.

Apples and oranges (except for the comparisons to Noah and Wilmore).

You're comparing news commentary to variety interview shows.

And in the case of Colbert Report, it's a comedic character giving the commentary.

Letterman on NBC in the 80s was the 2nd best of all time behind Carson. Sorry you missed out on the greatest two runs ever. Your generation sucks and is soft and gay.

Alliteration aside, I'll take my chances in the tournament.

I like Kimmel, but Colbert is certainly the best interviewer of them. Kimmel is able to get the most creative with the celebrities since I think he's actually friends with a lot of them. All Fallon does is play bullshite drinking games with them. The problem is Colbert is letting his good interviewing skills define his show, and that's simply not resonating with the masses.

Letterman's NBC show was the greatest I've ever seen. I wasn't around for Steve Allen's Tonight Show in the '50s or his Westinghouse show in the '60s (this latter is the show that influenced Letterman so much) and have only seen clips. But Letterman on NBC was tGO my lifetime.

Is it true he is a massive alcoholic and refuses to change?

From what I hear, absolutely. Kind of funny since it's really Kimmel who seems as if he suffers from alcoholism.
