Great movie if you haven't seen it. I highly recommend it. Looks at the difficulties of an inner city kid trying to make it out all while going through a pretty raucous ordeal. Music is great too

I watched it with little expectations and was utterly blown away. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but it was fascinating to me. That part where he stood up to the bully...oh man, powerful shite

I want to watch it, but like an idiot I read the netflix reviews and a good amount of them mentioned racist tones. If that's the case I'm not going to like it.

This true at all?

If you're looking for the movie to make a political statement, I guess you can find one, but if you're just looking to be entertained, Dope will get the job done.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Don't even know what they could be talking about

Oh wait probably the shite with Blake from workaholics(white) wanting to say ninja around his black friends

Watched it over the weekend. Really fun and entertaining. Definitely more for the 16-30 crowd.

Was surprised to see on Netflix stream as well. A great movie that keeps its concept simple without over doing any details of it. The characters all blend very well together. Without giving away much of a spoiler, the party scene they perform I thought was hilarious. I give it a 7.5/10

side note: thought A$AP Rocky did a pretty good job of his small role haha.

Movie dropped the N-word like Scarface and the f-word.

I figured Tarantino wrote the script and hid it from Spike Lee.

No, all the key players are pretty much black with the exception of one character. Race never really comes up except for maybe once or twice really.

However, anything dealing with black characters as the leads bring out the internet racist. See Selma...

I added it to my queue a few nights ago, I'll probably give it a watch Thursday. It sounds really good.

GREAT movie. Addresses a lot of things people 16 - 30 have lived with. Silkroad/bitcoin, white people and the word n*gga, Hip-Hop.

Even the subtle dialogue is spot on.

It certainly deals with race, just not in a Spike Lee, Do The Right Thing, in your face way. There aren't the confrontations with white society you see in that type of movie. But the movie certainly tackles race issues, poverty, how those are linked, and the difficulties of an inner city black kid who doesn't fit in trying to find his way to success. And you see, even if over the top, how the surroundings conspire to keep this kid from getting out.

But it's not a movie that puts that IN YOUR FACE. It's overshadowed by the overarching drama at this point in this kid's life and his fish out of water struggles are immediately identifiable by anyone. It is a lifhthearted, more straightforward Boyz N the Hood.
