First episode was great IMO.

Is this show consistently good or does it go off the rails?

Production quality so far is excellent. This show had to cost a ton to make.

Oh hell yes it's worth the watch. Great show and season 3 finale was fantastic.

Season 4 is the final season, and it just premiered last night. I didn't catch it but will stream it at some point this week.

Surprising that you liked the first episode. I thought the first an second episodes were so dull that I almost quit. Glad I didnt though, it turned out to be a fantastic show.

Absolutely. It's a great show that has continued to get bigger and better each year. I'm still surprised it doesn't get more acclaim and love. Has become one of my favorite shows.

I was really blown away at how well the show as done.

From the cinematography, to the boat battles, to the period costumes, everything was outstanding.

Good to hear that it only gets better. Pumped.

Season 4 just premiered last night. They plan for it to be the final season, as they feel it will lead into Treasure Island the smoothest. You can already tell they have a much larger budget for the season too.

Piece of advice: when you learn about Flint's backstory in season 2, don't let it push you away. I was not a fan of what they chose but by season 4 you really appreciate the man so much more. Flint and Silver's discussions starting in season 3 are some of the best I've seen on TV. It connects on a much deeper level, psychologically, than just being a show about pirates.

I watched episode 2 and 3 last night and its on.

Love it.

Is Captain Charles Vane a recurring character on the show or is he just in the beginning?

Its awesome how Vane and Flint are teaming up.

Starz has never promoted it's shows all that well. It wasn't long ago that you damn near had to leave your tv on Starz all day if you an wanted to occasionally see an ad for their original content. Most of their original series I only found b/c I happened to leave the tv on after I was done watching a movie. They've gotten better the last couple of years but they still haven't seemed to be able to push their shows in other media or for awards as hard as other cable networks.

"Blackbeard" made me loled so I decided to continue watching. Primailry aimed at homo erotica more than hetero, so you been warned.

I checked Netflix and Amazon. The show is available but it comes with a fee. Not available with your prime membership.

starz is the only premium channel we subscribe to. their originals aren't earth shattering, but the only one i didn't like was camelot and they don't try to shove political agendas down my throat like HBO. also their alliance with disney gets the kids all star wars, marvel, and disney shows so win/win.

the fact that two male actors kissing or what not on screen bothers you so much says more about you than the show.

Correct, however they were just purchased by lions gate and this will change

I work in the tv business and have a friend who is pretty high up at STARZ. He told me they are pumping a bunch of money into original content and securing more distribution and marketing rights. They are going to concentrate on getting more brand awareness

Only thing good about black sails is the insanely hot brown chick.

I never made it past a few episodes in season 1, but I also dont like pirate shite either.

Insanely hot brown chick:

One of the best shows on TV. Production, sets, costume design, character development are all right up there with GoT and the actual story is very engaging as well. Season 3 gets real wild.

There's an Ashley Judd joke in here somewhere.
