Look, this movie doesn't pretend to be anything it's not (a cheesy disaster movie with lots of CGI), but the combination of The Rock's likeability, a hot Carla Gugino, and an extremely hot Alexandra Daddario made for an entertaining time. The CGI is actually getting better too, many of the flyover scenes were done pretty well. 6/10

The rock has screen presence like no one I've seen before. (Not talking acting skills)

I like these crazy but slightly plausible disaster movies like Day After Tomorrow and Armageddon.

I expect to have the same feeling about this one as I do about 2012. Entertaining-enough disaster flick that I won't need to watch more than once all the way through and then maybe catch parts here and there on TV.

Its almost like he was mega successful and famous live entertainment star in his former career.

If you haven't seen it Alexandra Daddario had a supporting role in True Detective. There is one scene in particular that is very interesting...

Everybody bitches about Superman not saving enough people in Man of Steel...

Man, if you're not related to The Rock, he ain't lifting a finger to help you in this movie!

I know it's a movie I WON'T watch on my TV at home. I have a large screen TV but it still won't do a spectacle movie like this any justice. Disaster movies need the full theater experience.

That said I have no desire to go see it in a theater. I hate most theaters and now that school is out I hate them even more.

My daughter wanted to watch a movie on NetFlix a couple weekends ago while my wife and my 2 year old were taking a nap. I flipped around, she saw Spy Kids, and wanted to watch it. They clearly knew what they were doing with casting. The kids will watch it because of the Spy Kids. The adults will watch it because of Antonio (freaking) Banderas and Carla Gugino. Being the Red Blooded 'Murrican Male that I am, I turned on the stove and made a big old pot of Popcorn and watched the entire movie with my daughter.

The Rock does it all.

Flies a helicopter and rescues the victim all in the same mission
Flies planes
Hot wires cars
Drives boats
Holds breath for a long time
Miracle worker with CPR
