I was the opposite. I really liked the first 2 seasons but after a while I started disliking every single character which made it hard to enjoy the show, even though I still finished it.

I watched S1 and kept going....didn't think it was all that special (still don't) during the first two seasons.
However, S3 is where you start to see the greatness....and then 4 and 5 are just epic on every level.
The best is yet to come for you

I enjoyed Season 1 and thought it was pretty quality TV, but I can absolutely see how it would turn some people off. It hadn't quite come into its own yet.
I'm of the opinion that this show gets better with every episode and peaks perfectly as one of the greatest ever.
I'm jealous OP, wish I would wipe my memory and re-live it. Enjoy the ride and keep us posted on your progress.

I really, really love Tuco as a character. He's like... The worst human ever, but his character is really interesting.

Season one was probably the slowest season of the series. Not that it's bad or anything but it's just not on the same level as every other season. All the show does is constantly outdo itself. I think the Tuco story line was the worst storyline of the whole show but it sets up so much more of the show that you appreciate it more later on.

Season one was really slow, but I enjoyed the black comedy aspect of it.

I just finished BB last night. Started slow watching an episode every once in awhile. Till it started picking up steam and I started watching episodes more frequently. Finished it off by power watching the last 6 episodes yesterday.

I had the same initial experience. I watched the first 5 episodes or so and quit. I'm going to try and pick it back up this summer and try and finish it out before the fall tv season rolls around.
I know it's got to pick up at some point considering all of the hype it gets, but the first 5 episodes didn't hook me.

I watched 1 through 5.1 in the 2 months before 5.2 started airing. I was pretty much hooked from the get go. The initial scene is a guy in the desert in his underwear with only an apron giving his goodbyes. That did it for me.

I can't believe you stopped at the pilot. One of the best ever IMO. I did take a break at some point, but when I did pick it back up, I was all in.
