It's up there, but not on that level. They tried to squeeze too much of the 1980 college experience into one weekend, so it doesn't come off as natural a story as D&C.

But it's a hell of a watch.

There's something about it that feels very authentic and lived in. It was a pleasure to watch these characters, portrayed by far better actors than the ones in Dazed and Confused, stretch into themselves. I think anyone who was in a fraternity or played a sport can relate to the movie on some level and that universality of it was wonderful. One of my favorites of the year. Linklater just knows how to craft realistic characters and push them into situations that, even if over the top, feel real.

It is better than Dazed and Confused. Best movie of the year.

If people would take off the nostalgia goggles, they'd realize this movie just works better than Dazed and Confused because the characters are better across the board (except maybe Wooderson).
