He's going to make Murdock (much like he made Rick) look like a giant poon.
This is probably the best casting in response to the current cast if that makes sense. Since the cast is a little bit emo, casting a macho guy like Bernthal is going to have a lot of people cheering for Frank Castle.

DD in general is scrappier than Widow or the MCU's Hawkeye-they are more about precision. Hell Hawkeye mostly fights at a distance, but in AoU got his arse beat in the opening sequence.

The Punisher is probably my favorite Marvel character and I am absolutely blown away with excitement that Bernthal will portray him. What an awesome casting job!

So just to highlight how awesome Frank Castle can be given a good writer, Marvel's latest event Secret Wars is when the universe is finally ending,for real. Marvel's main earth (616) is colliding with the Ultimate Universe and one earth has to destroy the other or they both die....
