As much as I loved the first one, I won't be seeing this one. I just don't think it can top the first one so there is no need to make my opinion of him be diluted .

Part of the charm was the reveal that he was a badass and the build-up to going back to that after a quiet life.
Sort of like the Taken sequels...
Once you know - then its just a movie of pure shooting and knife fighting...I mean, might as well just watch any run of the mill Hong Kong movie.

As long as they don't go too deep into the mythology and just keep it as something kind of cool at the edges it'll be good. At its core the first one was an incredibly simple movie set in a kind of cool universe. I hope they keep that the same- make it about Wick going HAM for something that's horrible but not normal- no, "save the girl" bullshite.
Something like - spoiled kid of a billionaire kills a friend of Wick's in a DUI or drugs a girl Wick knows fromthe corner store or something and his parents buy off the judge. Enter John Wick who kills like 300 guys in awesome fashion.

Watching something like The Raid or John Wick is the same experience for me. Despite the ridiculous (I mean that in a good way) fight choreography and stunt work, a whole movie of it gets boring. It's all fun stuff, but as the movie goes on, it just becomes more like a cartoon. I don't really see how they could improve on the first one.
