Ramsey was a classic bad guy. Joffrey was a spoiled evil little shite. I would say Ramsey's screen time was less annoying.

Reading the books, both had me on pins+needles any time they were in a scene. Great, great characters. Evil bastards, but great.

he grew up privileged and doesn't even have hair on his balls. he's like a brat you want to punch. ramsey is from the skreets giving a better rationalization to his psychopathy that's not "oh he was too spoiled"

Both were bad in different ways. I think Ramsay was more respected as a villain because of abilities. Joffrey did what he could because born in the right situation. If you switch the characters' positions, Joffrey wouldn't be alive.

Joffrey was basically just a spoiled little turd to 100th degree. His "evilness" mostly came from being such a spoiled brat (outside of his penchant for killing whores of course). I hated him far more than I did Ramsay because I hate spoiled little turds, and Jack Gleeson played the ultimate spoiled turd (props to him for making me hate a character so much).
Ramsay was far more cunning and diabolical. Like most serial killers, he probably had a pretty high IQ. And I actually liked the way he was portrayed on the show a little better than in the books from an entertainment standpoint (mainly because Iwan Rheon would steal whatever scene he was in with the way he played the part). I actually looked forward to Ramsay's scenes on the show.

I really hated Joffrey, because he was a weak, cowardly, sadistic little shite.
Ramsey scared me. He was evil and he was strong. You never know what he was going to do, but you knew it would be awful.

Ramsey has had his arse beat and been on the other end of the power paradigm. Joffrey has no appreciation for the power he uses to do all of that horrible shite

There are some things for which I can respect Ramsey. Clever maneuvering or something. Joffrey is a crown and without that anyone in westeros would stomp him out badly

Ramsey could actually handle himself. You had to respect that. Joffrey was a spoiled little twit who wouldn't last a minute in a real scrap. And on top of it you are jealous of Joffrey and his privileged life.
You hate the spoiled, rich, good-looking bully more than the poor trashy one who will wind up working at Wal-Mart. Deep down, you pity the latter.
