See, was I thought D'onofrio was great for a villan you can bring back- hate able but slightly sympathetic and cagey enough to make a comeback believable, Tennant nearly perfect but as a one season arc guy.

I finished the season tonight. It was pretty good. I didn't like Daredevil, so I was hesitant to give it a shot. But it was a lot different and really never focused on her powers, which I kind of liked (although her strength seemed to come and go). The bad guy was just spectacular and the show is worth watching just to see him. The show did go a few episodes too long and the one super soldier guy wasn't really necessary. I'm sure I'll watch the next season. A little nudity would go a long way on this show..

I just finished it and completely agree with you. It really could have been condensed to 8-10 episodes. A bunch of unnecessary story lines, which is actually quite common with TV shows. But overall I did really like it. David Tennant was simply awesome as a villain.

Yeah, I don't see how so many people were gushing over the early episodes. The pacing was way too slow until the end of episode 4, from then on it was very good. A 10 episode season would have been much better. But I kept watching because you could see the pieces of a good story being there and it was. David Tenant was great every moment he was on screen, and Krysten Ritter was perfect as the antisocial, guilt ridden, reluctant hero. I'm honestly not that excited for a season 2, it just would be hard to match a season with such a great villain, but I can see JJ being an enjoyable part of a team show.

The wife and I binge-watched over the holiday weekend and really enjoyed the series.
SPOILERS COMING (you have been warned)
Tennant was completely brilliant as Kilgrave. He brought that perfect balance of sociopath, intelligence and evil whimsy to the character.
The series was interesting at first, then took off once Hope killed her parents thus giving viewers the first inkling of what Kilgrave was like and his potential. There were quite a few twists and turns throughout the season that played well and kept attention.
The ending was extremely satisfying. If only Jeoffry in GoT had died so suddenly.
The only problem I had with the series was the portrayal of Jessica's and Luke's powers. If you only want to capture snippets of her jumping great heights the first few episodes, fine. Once you show peeks, you have to eventually show it all.
Once you show it though it needs to be consistent.
Example: If Jones is strong enough to bend up a chair or rip up locks without missing a beat, why does she have such trouble pulling a pipe from the ceiling or throwing a guy across a bar?
Other than this one point my only concern is how they can possibly make a Season 2 that keeps pace with this.

It would have been a lot better cut by a few episodes without the twins or trinity love triangle. Every time either twin was on screen it was so uncomfortable with their poor acting and dumb story I wished Kilgrave would walk into my living room and tell me to jump out a window. when she beat up Jessica jones, that was certainly a low point of the show.
Of course Kilgrave and jones were both excellent and carried the series.

Jessica was trying so hard to just blend in and DL her powers that she completely dissassociated herself from pretty much everybody - mom, best friend, etc...
Her weird neighbors forced interactions that kinda brought her back to being human again.

First episode sucks balls
Too Many cringeworthy scenes and one liners, a batman forever feel to the forced dialogue and cheesy conversations with such witty rebuttals!
This. The sex-scenes are so over-the-top ridiculous and her affinity for getting trashed is handled so hamfistedly. It's like a 7th grader directed the episode- lezbian secks! gratuitously prolonged sensual pg-13 stradling! Straight booze for breakfast! Wow, much edge, such mature.
Every single bit of dialogue is a one-liner that falls on it's face so hard.
Probably will not continue.

Just finished it,
I liked it a lot, but it went out with a whimper considering it came out the gate with a bang.

Awesome show. Can't believe Marvel let them make something that dark and edgy.

I'm only 8 episodes in but I like it better than Daredevil so far.

Classic film noir
I think they took the detective angle and ran with it along those lines
If you look at it that way it makes more sense.
The lesbos are of course a modern addition

I've never read a Marvel comic, but I like Kristen Ritter so I decided to check out the series.
I thought the actor who played Kilgrave did a fantastic job, but the character himself was rather annoying and childish. This guy has the ability to control minds at the drop of a hat, but for what? World domination? To further a greater agenda he had been crafting? There was no sense that Kilgrave had a true goal, so I felt like I was like watching this spoiled brat run around pouting and throwing tantrums but for no purpose other than his stage 5 clinger feelings for Jessica.

I think that's what they were going for. Kilgrave was abandoned when he was 10 yrs old. No one raised him. He basically just made people do what he wanted and he never really progressed past that immature stage in life. He definitely had mommy and daddy issues and I think he latched onto Jessica when he witnessed her kicking those guys arse. He witnessed her special powers and realized they were both different and he could relate to her.
I really felt like we were watching an immature kid in a man's body who was definitely not a criminal mastermind. World domination was not his goal. He just wanted Jessica back.

Finished it tonight.
Not as good as Daredevil, but the pacing was better than DD. DD seemed to take forever to get anywhere.
The show really picked up when Rosario Dawson showed up a the end. It was like a real character suddenly appeared in the middle of a gritty fairy tale.
Tennant was great, but I'm not a fan of a villain who's a super-rapist. Seems like you're pushing the limits just to show that you can when you bring that in. I thought the same thing about The Authority. When you bring in rape planets and such, it's a bit much.

There was only one really incongruous thing that bothered me about the show.
Jessica is super strong. When she rips a lock off or bends a chair or when she lands from a high fall, the skin of her hands and feet are subject to extremely high tension in a very small location. A perfect example is when she stops the truck from hitting the little kid. Her hands or the skin on them are never damaged from any of the stresses her super strength puts them through. Yet, when she gets in a fight and gets hit with something or gets hit broadside with a truck or shite, she has marks left on her face or her chest or on her arm when she gets shot. It just doesn't follow that her hands and feet would be so tough and the rest of her body wouldn't.

So what's the next Netflix marvel show, Luke Cage? Or will DD season 2 air before that

Its a comic book. I'm sure you could come up with these kind of inconsistencies with any superhero

My thoughts as well. He's not really the criminal mastermind villain that we used to. His obsession was with Jessica, not world domination.
