Jean-Luc Godard's "Breathless"

Finally saw it for the first time last night. For the record, I really enjoyed it, but it didn't quite live up to what I was expecting.
Stylistically, it's a gem and the acting was great. Jean Seberg was gorgeous, and her scene with Michel in the bedroom is pretty damn hot for being dialogue heavy and 50 years old.
However, I thought the story itself was pretty lean; there just wasn't a whole lot to sink my teeth into. There were intriguing scenes, but many lacked urgency, which seemed odd as the cops closed in on the main characters. It might be the longest 90 mins I've spent watching a good movie. If not for Godard's lively jump-cuts, the pace could've dragged the whole film down IMO.
Pretty sure I'll watch it again and see if I get any more out of it. Any thoughts from the board?

It's one of my personal faves. Maybe my favorite from Godard.
I don't think French New Wave is that popular on this board though, so you might get some anguished reviews of how he can't tell a story and all they cared about was being artistic, and not making a good film.
But this one, I think is a gem.
Also, love this:

I actually never saw The Squid and the Whale because a roommate at LSU warned me it referenced the end of Breathless, so I didn't want to ruin anything and kept putting it off. Five years later, I guess I can't use that excuse anymore.

I watched this movie called Breathless and the main character kept doing this to his lips [rubs thumb over lips], and he got all the puss-aye

I saw the original one long ago...don't remember much...BUT i know the American version is considered a joke although I really enjoyed it... Gere was great in it.... Gere in his prime is hard to beat.
