Yeah, movies being "Predictably Bad" is another problem.

For instance, the recycled "Upper middle class dad hates his daughter's love of her life" comedy featuring Bryan Cranston and James Franco. Most moviegoers knew this movie was going to be a dud.

Superbad is my last legit favorite funny movie , and that's pushing exactly 10 years old .

Sometimes it takes distance before you can appreciate what you have.

When I was in high school, I thought the 70's was the worst decade for movies. A decade or two later, I realized how wrong I was.

Early aughts were pretty good.

Amelie and well known directors today making earlier films.

The only movie from that entire list I can see being considered an all-time great classic in 20 years time is maybe Mad Max: Fury Road. Maybe.

Much like the year a silent (for the most part) film won. I can't remember the name. But again, it was a give me a break moment. Just a film made to try and appeal to Oscar voters.

I felt like the '90s had a lot more great movies in the '80s. There were very few great movies made in the '80s. The latter half of that decade was particularly horrific. Everybody in Hollywood was trying to make the next great blockbuster after Star Wars that it killed off film-making as an artistic medium. Hollywood started to heavily accommodate their films to children because they could make a lot more money through merchandising such as clothing, books, toys and video games. They stopped gearing their films to adult consumers because there wasn't as much financial incentive to make those types of movies.
