I liked Avatar but i heard mix reviews for Korra. How does the TD board feel about it?

I started watching the first season a few weeks ago and I can't really get into it.

I haven't watched it, but from what I heard, it starts off slowly, but picks up really well to the end.

It also goes into and touches on things that Avatar: TLA wouldn't even dream of touching.

Apparently, it is an adult version of TLA.

Awesome show, hope they explore another avatar's life in the future. Korra had some great villains to battle and was a darker show than the last air bender.

The second and third season are the best. The third season has what a lot of people would say is the best villain in the franchise. The avatar origin story in the second season is really good.

The first season is good. The fourth season had a lot of potential, but I didn't like where they went with it. Some people on here fanboyed that shite hard though.

I tried watching it and couldn't get through the first season because of how big of a bitch Korra is.

I've never heard anything remotely close to that.

By the end of the final season, I heard it gets very dark.

I like it. I liked TLA better though.

I thought so far it's much more juvenile than TLA. Also, I really don't feel the setting.

It's great. It gets off to a bit of a rough start (still good), but the final two seasons are incredible and as good if not better than the original series. The creators really stopped giving a frick on what Nick told them to do, and went full out "Game of Thrones" on the series, and got pulled from the air when I'm guessing the heads of Viacom heard what they were allowed to get away with. If I had to rank the seasons of the Avatar Franchise:

1) Korra Book 3
2) Avatar Book 2
3) Korra Book 4
4) Avatar Book 3
5) Korra Book 1
6) Korra Book 2
7) Avatar Book 1

I'd watch season 1 and 2

After that, it gets incerdibly meh. But the story of Wan the first Avatar in season 2 is worth it. Two of the best episodes of either series easily.

If give her another chance if I were you. The first two seasons, Korra can be a bitch, but she really turns into the best character of her own show (save perhaps Varrick). Korra had the opposite arc of what Aang did. While Aang's arc was all about accepting himself as the Avatar and stop running from a duty he never asked for, Korra's overall arc is more accepting herself for who she is outside of the Avatar role because she's completely consumed by this fact.

Seasons 3 and 4 sure as hell are and it got taken off of the air because of it. They clearly took a lot from Game of Thrones in the final two seasons. Pretty much every episode in Season 3 you think to yourself "How the hell did Nick allow them to get away with this?!" The final episode makes it pretty clear that it was cancelled over the mature content rather than the ratings.

How was season 3 even remotely meh? It had the best plot, best villains, and best fights in the series. Never heard of anyone who remotely disliked that season.

First season gets better, Amon is a really good villain. Get past season 2 and it really picks up. Both final two seasons get pretty dark by Nick standards even had to be removed from airing on TV.

I haven't given up on it, just watching it really slowly. Korra just annoys the shite out of me.

Trust me, she becomes a much better character as the series progresses.
