And if not was he ever? I th8jk alot of people forget about movies luke Donnie bravo, blow, sleepy hollow when he wasn't so quirky and how he can actually be a good actor.

No, he never was. Too many people confuse fame with quality and way too many people only see main Hollywood tentpoles to realize what there really is out there to discover

No, no
He's actually pretty one-dimensional.

His box office draw really collapsed...if it was even more than a Disney propped illusion once upon a time.
I mean Alice, Mortdeci, Into the Woods, Transcendence, Lone Ranger, The Rum Diary, The Tourist, etc. Even Public Enemies (which is not a bad movie) lost money.
He's box office poison sans the old Pirate movies.

I think it's debatable he was top 10 in 1990

I'd replace Crowe with Bridges.

I think there are def more than 10. Bridges and Sam Jackson are above him to imo. I just picked 10 random I could think of...
Also Gyllenhaal is an incredible actor imo

It probably dropped because he thought he could get away with playing Jack Sparrow in the rest of his roles.

no and no
ETA: that's not to say i don't like him. he's such a quirky sonuvabitch doing movies that are pretty off the wall but it takes a weirdo like him to pull of the role. Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands,.... and others...someone help me out.
Gilbert Grape was maybe his best acting job from a traditional standpoint?
