I know some of you guys are familiar with "The Room", not to be confused with "Room".

If you're not familiar with the movie "The Room" then get familiar. It's litterally the worst movie ever.

So one of the guys in it, the sane one, wrote a book about what a frick job it was. "The disaster artist"

That's being adaptided by James Franco and crew into a movie. A movie about the worst movie ever. Hell yeah.

The trailers look amazing. I'm super pumped.

Saw this interview with the Francos, Wiseau and Sestero the other day. It's amazing how Franco talks like Tommy when he's talking to him. I hope he wins an Oscar for this.

Franco could win an oscar for a role about the worst acting performance ever.

Irony? Coming full circle? Who the hell knows.

Poland per Wiki. He also might have come over here and lived in Chalmette with his grandparents before moving to California. All info is sketchy because he likes to lie.

I think another interesting story would be the truth behind the financing of the movie.

There isn't a solid explanation for how he came up with the money so fast.

I think the most likely explanation for it is that Tommy received an exceptionally large inheritance, made some additional cash through real estate, and that he financed the movie himself. No way in hell would anyone who knew absolutely anything about film making would allow him to purchase the cameras and shoot in 2 film formats. It is simply absurd.

From what I remember from the book, Tommy was dirt poor when he came to America. He seemed to have made his money to start his clothing line through hustling cheap stuff on the street, then made enough to open his knock off clothing store and invest in property.

SFP, I think he's from Eastern Europe but made a stop for a while in France. He also lived in Chalmette according to the book, he even worked as Schwagmann's.

The actual story of him getting to America, and eventually California, is kind of sad and gives you respect for Tommy in a way. I think he's telling the truth about how he got to San Francisco.

He didn't have nearly enough time to make $6,000,000 to fund the movie. From what I read, he was dirt poor, made some money on clothing, then took those profits and lucked out on some real estate ventures but in reality, it was a very short period of time he came up with the money.

Some speculation that some money laundering went on but nothing more than rumors because the sudden rapid gain in cash out of nowhere is odd.

If he actually had all of that money, doesn't he seem like the type to blow it all on hookers and drugs?

Just doesn't seem plausible that he magically came up with 6 million.

Heck he kept up a billboard at 5k per month for 5 years.

According to Greg, the script supervisor went in and said to the teller that he was confident this check he was about to give her was going to bounce, but her response to him was that that account was a bottomless pit and to not worry about it. He got some money from somewhere, and I don't think he had anyone financing the film but himself.
