I have no idea where this came from originally but I found it on another site.

Theory: The main characters in this show are the bad guys

quote:

Unlike The Walking Dead, which tells the story of one of the few good groups of people, Fear the Walking Dead will show the rise of a Woodbury/Terminus type of society.

The main characters have already, 9 days into the apocalypse, shown disturbing resolve to kill others in order to protect their own. Salazar tortured an innocent soldier and brought down an entire military base to save his wife, and Maddie was on board the whole time.

More than that, they've shown outright disregard for other human life simply for being useless or not actively helping them. They left the gate at the community open after they left and never warned anyone, and Maddie justified this by saying that nobody came to their aid during the military's raid on her house. In addition, Strand is an outright sociopath and explicitly stated that they weren't going to let anyone else out of the cages because helping them could hurt him and Nick, and there was no value added.

Even Travis, the moral compass, seems to be rapidly coming around to the others' way of thinking.

All of these actions would make sense for a season 6 Rick, but not for season 1. It's like a community of Shanes. This, then, could be a perfect set-up to a "bad" community.

This makes sense on another level too. Now that society has fallen almost entirely offscreen, how is this show different from TWD? This could be that difference. It also fits with the name. "Fear the Walking Dead." Fear the main characters of this series, because they will be ruthless.

Everyone is a bad guy now. Unless they're part of your group.

According to the terminus community they're scoundrels..it's walking a tight rope on morality.

If we spent a season from the people of terminus' point of view, after half a season of watching what were once normal people, being raped and murdered..you may would pull for them to take back their place, and kill the people who were occupying.

They stopped taking chances, Rick says he's done the same.

I love reading stuff like this. Even though I have never put that much thought into a show.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm hopeful that the FTWD will become an anthology series in which each season focuses on a different group/scenario/time/location to keep it fresh. We already have a cohesive storyline with WD.

They went far past just that. They were actively luring people to Terminus to execute and eat.
