Saw it yesterday and thought it was very good. Not really top tier Pixar for me, but somewhere in the next grouping behind Wall-E, Incredibles, and Up for me.

I saw Inside Out last night with my five year old daughter. We both liked it. I emphasize "like". Inside Out was solid. It was a decent little movie. I thought the movie had the potential to be this diatribe on childhood depression, but it didn't go there. And the way Riley regained her sense of self was natural and rewarding.

Of course, the characters were cute and funny and all that. I just think the movie didn't deliver artistically. Not like Monsters University or Big Hero 6 or even Up. But it was still strong. Not Pixar's best, but certainly not a bad movie at all.

My kids are more excited to see Minions. I don't hate the Despicable Me movies, but it's a shame that Inside Out will not make as much money as that mostly empty, overplayed prequel.

Did you see the trailers for Minions? It looks genuinely incredible. The Minions are clearly the best part about Despicable Me. This gives them their own plot line and it is actually kinda brilliant. It looks really good.

I thought it looked horrible

We saw Inside Out last weekend with our 2.5 year old. We all loved it. My wife cried...alot. My 2.5 year old even got attached to the characters. Several times she cried out "Oh no! Joy!"

and I gotta admit, Bing Bang's "take her to the moon" line kinda got me too...

I loved it.

Bing Bong's finale was great. I was getting teary eyed when Riley was remembering her fondest memories. My little girl looked up at me and said "I don't know why but this movie is getting me tears!"

I'm not saying it wasn't good, because it was very enjoyable. It just wasn't the best. And that's okay.

ETA: Rewatch the Minions trailers...I loled really hard at them.

It really is a phenomenal movie.

I took the little lady to it and it kicks you right in the feels really fricking hard.

SPOILER *****

I told my SO yesterday I'm still pissed about Bing Bong. Poor guy left dead and forgotten. Reminding all the adults in the room that you have to kill your dreams and forget your childhood fun to grow up.

The best part of the movie to me was the 3 scenes inside the mom, the dad, and the boy at the end.

Oh shite the wife signaled us? What did she say?

That is usually what happens to imaginary friends, you've just never seen it from their perspective until now.

did anyone else find Lava pretty moving?

I'll be honest, between Lava, and the end of the movie, I was all fricked up emotionally. I am a man....I'm 40.

Saw it last Thursday and thought the same thing. I find most animated films to be formulaic, predictable and mostly boring. This one was so freaking unique. The story and characters felt very real, and there situations were spot on. That's why it was so touching.

More than anything though, this movie was clever. That's really the main description I took out of the theater with me. Every scene was extremely clever in the way they created fantasy based on the reality of our emotions.

and the dog, and the cat, and the... yeah it was all wonderfully done

Finding Nemo as Pixar's best.

Possible spoiler

Speaking of.. did anyone notice when Joy, Sadness and Bing-Bong were walking through the kindergarten area (I think), in the back ground there was a box with Nemo on it and the game's name was "Find Me." I thought it was a neat little Easter Egg.

Incredibles is still my favorite Pixar movie, but this one definitely is fighting for 2nd place with Nemo, Monster's Inc. And Wall-E (maybe it's because I have a 12 y/o daughter)

Just got back from taking the kids and I was really disappointed in it. It was cleverly written but little kids won't really get the concepts...they also dwelled far too long in depression and sadness for a kids movie...only breaking it up with gags then going right back to sad crap.

This wasn't in the same zip code of monsters inc.

I thought it was a pretty sad movie. Had the potential to be hilarious but stayed on the sad route. My son and daughter both said it was "alright" after we left. The best parts of the movie were the times you were in other people's head besides the girls.

I think it was well thought out overall but just too sad overall for me to say it was a Pixar top 5. For me it was on the bottom half of Pixar releases.

SPOILER:

I just didn't like how easily the "Islands of Personality" were destroyed. It was like one bad interaction with her friend and the whole island gone. One time she didn't feel like acting like a monkey "Goofball island" gone. Conversely I didn't like how easy they came back.
