Honestly, not that bad of a list. Lost is a little high, but The top 10 is pretty solid if you swap Game of Thrones and Lost, imo.

I think the show has to be complete in order for it to make the Top 10. It has to not completely shite the bed in the end, and if GoT does, it's going a good 10 spots down the list when it is all said and done.

The Simpsons is an exception due to its legacy already being secured no matter what it does, but its really the only one.

I can see that. I was almost ready to bail on Game of Thrones after episode 1 last season, but the rest of the season was amazing.

Eh IGN just wants to create controversy.

Breaking Bad, mad Men and GoT are laughably high. They should be right around BSG at best. The Prisoner, Seinfeld, 24, Dr. Who, etc. should move up.

I love the Wire and think it's a visual novel and probably the greatest drama ever put on TV. However, I wouldn't slot it at #1.

Simpsons is now #1, probably followed by The Twilight Zone, Seinfeld, Sopranos, and take your pick of Law and Order, Star Trek and Saturday Night Live.

My problem is something like

quote:

87) The Real World (1992)

If this list is about "Important" television or things that drove the industry, Real World is like Top 20. Easily. And sadly.

If it's about quality, I'm not sure RW makes the list.

Many lists try to do that. But I don't think this one fits the bill

Yeah, I think it's pretty safe. I don't think anything on it is totally outrageous.

Some that I think are up for debate to put on the list:

King of the Hill
Silicon Valley
An Idiot Abroad
The People vs OJ Simpson
Planet Earth
Cosmos
Archer
Firefly
Sherlock
Adventure Time
Spartacus
Fringe

Just glad Family Guy and Spongebob didn't make the list, since both of them ruined animation for a good decade.

If they were trying to do that than this list would be drastically different. Even though this isn't a list of favorites, everyone does have different preferences so no list will be close to perfect for anyone.

Buffy, TNG, X-Files, Law and Order should all be ahead of Mad Men, BB, and GoT.

Those are all more important or television and more influential. And they all ran longer.

Longevity and influence. That means your cultural impact is stronger. Breaking Bad will be a blip on the television radar in 10 years. Buffy will still be on syndication. Same for Law and Order.

Well, if there is syndication left over when Netflix takes over.

Also, just noticed this:

quote:

54) Better Call Saul (2015)

And no Walking Dead? That's funny.

The absence of The Dick Van Dyke Show and WKRP In Cincinnati renders the list shite.

No The Brink? List is invalid.

Always Sunny is way to low.

It's the longest running live action sitcom in the history of television.

I saw Frasier at 92 and stopped because I realized it was going to be a truly shitty list.
