I knew they dealt with issues like psychos and the bizzare but ghosts, sea creatures and people with telepathy? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the show but I'm losing interest in some of these episodes.

And Cher. Don't forget Cher.

They cover telepathy in the first season.
Do you even understand the premise of the show?

Monster of the week episodes were better, by far, than the main plot of the show. I'll admit that the main plot started out interesting, but I've always felt that as the seasons went on the writers began to have less and less of a firm vision for where they were going with the story and it just got sloppy. In the end it seemed like they were just throwing everything they could at the wall to see what would stick. I mean, just look at the finale which is nothing more than a series recap.
Without the monster of the week episodes The X-Files would have never become as good as it was.

Carter screwed up when he killed the elites and no plan on how to move the canon forward. Vince Gilligan salvaged some of it.

True. It's a more modern "Kolchak" IMO.
