I need a good rom-com

Preferably one from the last 5 years, that is set in modern NYC, and features a fairly young(20s) protagonist

Sleeping with Other People is really enjoyable, and meets most of those criteria (apart from protagonist age)

Serendipity. Also has the added benefit of Kate Beckinsale.

Comet or 500 Days of Summer.

Not 5 years, but Definitely, Maybe almost fits the criteria

The sapphires, not at all the plot you have asked for, but not bad

Why the very specific plot?

They Came Together
Really funny movie, starring Amy Pohler and Paul Rudd; written and directed by David Wain, who did role models and was on a really great skit show called the state.
It's like the Scary Movie of rom coms.

Definitely, Maybe is the one I can think of that comes closest to meeting the criteria.
Without the restrictions I would recommend She's out of my League. Nick and Norah's Playlist is pretty good too.

Depends on how flexible you are with the word "good" but That Awkward Moment fits that bill.

Raises hand. Sorry but I hated Serendipity the only time I watched it.

Really? I can watch Serendipity whenever I see it on.
On the other hand, at least we seem to agree on Kate
