I have the disquieting feeling that the GoT TV series is starting to drift

I got into the show a few months ago and binge watched prior to Season 5. I can't quite put my finger on it but nothing this season seems to be at the level of what has come before. Too many characters so only snippets of each story? Characters I care about gone for long periods in favor of new characters that seem a touch pointless? So many interesting characters dead?

Maybe I am being overly critical.

Without getting into any specifics or spoilers, the books meander a lot at this point and they are going off the books big time, anyway. Starting to get ahead of the source material as well in some storylines.

I take a pleasure in the chaotic story. I like that there are so many characters and storylines going all at once. Makes it real, and provides some sense of scale. We're talking about a whole world filled with nobles and powerful people who all have their own goals and ideas. Plus, the chaosakes it unique amongst shows.

I think in the next season the story lines are going to start closing up. People will die and more focus will be on the end game.

IF they are sticking to 7 seasons.

I'm with you 100%. Last night's episode was another yawner. The books were turds and the TV show doesn't seem to be much better.

The books are big time boring right now so they have to do something about it.

SPOILERS

I think the rape scene was supposed to show us a turning point for Theon. As in he will team up with Sansa to get back at the Boltons.

They're adapting material from the two worst books. Season should finish strong, though.

I'm like 5 episodes into season 1, so I myself have a long way.

Does it pick up from where I'm at? When does it really peak?

Well, Davos told him to stick to the coast, and Dragonstone is an island, so he's probably just been rowing around in circles this whole time.

I think this season has pretty much sucked the big one so far.
