I can't stand the actor that plays Moriarty in Sherlock (possible spoilers)

Am I the only one?
I keep wondering what they are trying to do with this depiction of Moriarty. Is he a mad genius...psychopath...logical but evil...obsessed to the point of destruction...all of the above?
He's just all over the place imo. When we get the first reveal he screams at the top of his lungs and is seething with hatred at Sherlock. Then he's cool, calm, and collected. Maybe a better actor could pull it off, but this guy reminds me of the second host of Blues Clues.
Thoughts?

Just a little too over the top for me. And he can't pull it off like ledger did with the joker.

Yep. I feel as though hes a bit like the joker. Just wants to create chaos, and frick with Batman/Sherlock.
I hate the character, but I think that is the desired effect, and the actor is nailing it.

Just like everything in the show, I prefer this version of Moriarty to the movies. Granted, I haven't started Season 4 yet. The actor who plays him was actually John Adams' secretary or whatever, the dude who married his daughter, in the HBO miniseries.

To each his own. I see the appeal of the "agent of chaos" type villain, but the movie Moriarty was just so much more evil and untouchable to me.
Maybe I'm taking more umbridge with the depiction of Moriarty rather than the actor's abilities, but I can't help but feel his clean cut look is undermining his depiction.

His name is Andrew Scott and I actually think he does a fantastic Moriarty.
