It's decent but I don't get they hype other than the rampant sexism and tobacco use.

Most people love it. The show bored me to tears.

I kept falling asleep before the show finished I stopped after season one. I can see why people like it but it's not my cup of tea.

People love it because they are secret sexists that love cigarettes and old fashioneds. They live vicariously through it.

Is this normal? I have never cried from being bored.

You must understand that it is just a slower pace type of show. A constant build. I tried a few times to get into it but it just wasn't for me.

It's just a soap opera no better than Days of Our Lives or whatever.

It's not just Mad Men. The soaps moved to prime time, and pretty much all the popular contemporary series fit the definition. We're all just a bunch of bored housewives now, living for our stories.

First two episodes had me fully in. The rest of the series is just like that. I don't think this show is for you.

The rest of the episodes are just filler.

It's a great show for those of us who lived through the 60's/70's or history buffs interested in the era. If you are looking for an action/thriller, look elsewhere. Mad Men is all about character development mostly in a big time advertising environment in N.Y. city while highlighting the impact of significant social/historical events during the time like the assassination of President Kennedy.

Completely agree, which explains its popularity among liberal enclaves.

Well, the first episode of Dallas was pretty good. You can watch it and see what the fuss is about even though it needed some polishing.

First episode of All in the Family takes you along for a hell of a ride. YOU"RE PREJUDICED!!!!!!

Most people feel they were never able to recapture the peak of the show, which happened around Episode #4...they continued to watch just to see how it ended.

I did. The show struck me as a exercise in style over substance and it never interested me.

I'm also not nearly as impressed with Peaky Blinders as most on this board, for similar reasons. I have watched all of Peaky Blinders, though, and I gave up on Mad Men after the second episode.

no it doesn't. I felt the same way as you after 2 episodes but stuck it out for a while longer. almost made it to the end of season 1 before I had to move on. the show just wasn't for me.
