Couldn't superman just fly hulk into space and toss him into the sun?
As stated, I don't think the Sun would be a good spot to toss him. Once again, this is a world of mutants and crazy powers. If it didn't kill him, his insane mutating powers could create something far worse.
Best bet would be Supes to just hurl him in any direction away from any planet.
Just hope he doesn't land on a asteroid heading back this way.

By the way, they have tried a few times to exile Hulk offworld. Last time, he came back really pissed and beat the snot out of most of Marvel.

How'd he get back? Swim? Or Loki? Or what? Don't tell me he can jump from planet to planet.

Whatever's convenient........
The core of Loki's staff is the Mind Stone which is one of the Infinity Stones that the Collector is looking to acquire. It's extremely powerful and is how Loki was able to turn people into his zombi drones. It's also what was causing everyone to get so angry and argue when they were on the helicarrier.
Do you not remember when an agitated Banner picked up the staff and didn't even realize it? Once he was away from the the thing he was able to regain control. The little man that talks to him in the demolished abandoned factory lets us know this b/c he says Banner aimed his landing.
That wasn't for convenience. It was to set up just how screwed everyone is when all the stones are together.
On a smaller level it also helped to let those who hadn't seen Incredible Hulk know that he has more control when its a willed change vs forced.

World War Hulk was an amazing story arc....and Doc Strange, Stark, Black Bolt and Mr Fantastic got what they deserved.

No, it's completely about convenience. How can we make the hulk frick everything up? We'll just blame the rod for him trying to kill black widow and Thor.
It's not like they were in the presence of the rod both before and after this, and weren't at each other's throats..... Oh wait, of course they were.
quote:
Here are the heroes arguing again. Notice at 43 seconds you see an undershot of Thor making him almost look drunk. Then Tony stumbles and rubs his eyes like he's under something. Then Banner talks about the "other guy," clearly as he picks up the Rod WITHOUT KNOWING IT.
So the rod had tony all fricked up, but they made a point to show how it has ZERO effect on him later? Did I miss the scene when they took their anti-rod pills?
quote:
I see this referenced too many times as a knock on the Avengers. Like I said, it wasn't perfectly communicated. But it also doesn't come out of the dark either. The film is clearly trying to tell the audience, "Something is up," the rod flip shot and drunk Thor are giant red flags at least.
So, something was up with Loki's rod, and it made Tony tired (at this point, but not earlier or later), Thor drunk, and the Hulk want to kill all the good guys.
I dig the Avengers, but yes, this is just a stupid device to conveniently progress the story.

Except It only has any effect on Tony when it's convenient to the story.

Another problem with The Avengers was that absolutely no one was the least bit suspicious when Loki brought himself in without a fight. While Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man were working out their differences in the forest, Loki was just sitting there on top of a cliff watching with a stupid grin on his face. The fact he didn't try to escape would tell me something was up.

The Avengers is the best popcorn flick I've ever seen. It gave me everything I wanted to see out of an Avengers movie.

It was awesome, but it wasn't without its flaws.

Hulk tries to kill them all
15 minutes later
"Alright! The Hulk's here! Hulk smash!!!!"

Okay...that hurts the film a little bit more than I remember then. You had three people asking questions about why Loki gave up so easily yet no one seemed to care.
re: Hulk from AvengersPosted by MrFreakinMiyagi on 7/16/14 at 5:23 pm to Mo Jeaux
Superman can keep as much distance from Hulk as he needs to...... If he needs to.
You can make the case for hulk being stronger, but it isn't cut and dry, and Supes has him in every other "who would win this fight?" category.
There really isn't any argument for Hulk beating Supes.

How should they have reacted differently? Let him go, since he obviously wanted to be captured?

Or Let him go to put innocent people in danger again? Smart move.

How is that convenient? That's part of the narrative, combine that with the idea that if Hulk is unleashed he smashes everything. Easy to understand.

Like i said, it wasn't communicated well but all the evidence was there.

Later when? After they realize Loki and the Rod are messing with them? Maybe once you're conscious of being affected you aren't anymore, at least not without someone directly controlling the rod
quote:

The rod can sort of act on it's own. Considering it like the Ring of Power from LOTR. It affected everyone at the council and made them fight. But after the council it doesn't have much of an effect. Then Boromir picks it up and he feels it. Then he lets it go. Same kind of thing. It was a "will" because it's the mind control gem.
Again, it isn't communicated well enough, we know.

Again, the Hulk is unpredictable. Simple. And that is at the core of the character. Pair that with a rod of strange power over people and you have a recipe for Hulk to be unleashed.

Agreed. No one is going to come in and beat him with brute strength. I've always figured that it would take a scenario like taking Doomsday to the end of time to kill him. You could frick him up psychologically but his body will still be there. Maybe someone like Silver Surfer can take him. It would take a ridiculous amount of power.
