Pixar ended it. They were making better movies. Movies like Lilo and Stitch weren't in the same league. Tarzan and Atlantis just kind of came and went while Bugs Life and Monsters Inc did well.

Other animation studios started kicking in about this time also and giving them a lot of competetion.

A Disney movie didn't end their run.

Pixar's Toy Story was the beginning of the decline for Disney. Pixar has yet to swing and miss on a movie, and I feel that Pixar's movies are just as appealing to adults as they are to children, which is impressive in animated movies.

However, I do think Disney made a great one with Wreck-It Ralph.

As a little kid when it was released that scared the crap out of me was "The Rescuers". Today I still get chill bumps when I see Madame Medusa on TV.

As for the OP:

Little Mermaid
Beauty and Beast
Aladdin

Lion King (Couldn't stand JTT and Broderick as the voice of Simba). If a Lion was going to lead the pack it would not have that wimpy voice as Broderick. "Hakuna Matata" song is just horrible.

Bumping this thread..

Okay, so I watched Hunchback of Notre Dame over the weekend, along with Emperor's New Groove and half of Tarzan.

I was big time disappointed in Hunchback. It certainly wasn't bad, but I was expecting to really like it a lot and I just flat out didn't. I guess I didn't really like the idea of nothing really happening to the main character...he was more of a catalyst to help Esmerelda and that knight dude. And because he was disfigured, he couldn't "end up with the girl." Also how in the climax he pours molten metal all over everyone outside, and then turns the courtyard into a volcano (WTF?). I mean, when Follo falls over the ledge into the molten copper, there is literally a splash. Then a few seconds later, Quasi just walks outside and everything is normal.

Emperor was pretty awesome. I liked it a lot. I liked David Spade in it, though it was weird seeing him voice an 18-year old Incan emperor. Warburton was pretty great though. Also didn't realize John Goodman was in this one. And I liked the straightforwardness of the plot...the movie is only 77 minutes long and never really seems to drag.

Tarzan I got about halfway through last night before I fell asleep, but I was digging it so far.

WIR was a home run for Disney, IMO.

That's not how I see beauty and the beast. I actually dislike the moral of that movie as much as any other. Basically she has an abusive man who locks up her father, then locks her up and is rude and prone to outbursts of temper. Then because he later says he is sorry and is nice to her she thinks he must be good at heart, and she falls in love with him. She should be happy that he seems to be changing but no way should she get emotionally or romantically involved.
