How much do rely on the rottentomato reviews before seeing a movie?

I'll take a look but they really don't push me one way or the other. Upon seeing Saving Mr. Banks Friday night I decided to take a look at some of the reviews? The negative reviews I read were actually pretty hilarious. There were all from either internet blogger-type critics or some small-town critic over-analyzing the ever living shite out this move. Trying to use big words and "clever" one liners to get their point across. I don't know, I just found the negative reviews to be kind of funny. The movie was great even though it may have strayed for the actual events.

Not at all. Too many people worried about what they're supposed to like and what they're not supposed to like. Lots of people on RotTom and this site and real life who deny themselves movies they might enjoy and convince themselves they enjoy movies they didn't. All for some stupid hipster vanity. It's pretty retarded.

pretty low. a good inspiring movie usually is considered "rotten" but other movies like airplane receive a 98. Now, I love Airplane, but i would not give it a 98. If a movie is 0-20%, then I would probably not see the movie but otherwise I really dont care

I use it somewhat in determining which movie to see in a theater only because movie tickets are expensive. However, I don't use it at all when renting movies or looking at Netflix, Amazon, etc.

I would be lying if I said I didn't check RT before actually going to see a movie in the theaters.

If something is on TV I very rarely check RT. Example: I watched Broken City last night without checking RT; I would not have gone to see it in theaters based on it's review.

Depends on the genre, I think comedies as low as 40 can still be good, and any action film above 35 should be worth a redbox rental.

I do feel like a film can have a rating so high that it ceases to be entertaining, I am a bit hesitant of films that rate higher than 95. I feel like films that score between 70 and 85 tend to be the most entertaining.

I use it a lot

For instance, the only reason I didnt see The Counselor was because it was at like under 40% on RT

I check RT and mega critic and imdb and of course ask TD

We have two kids and the very few chances we get to go to a movie I have to choose wisely. We aren't wasting a night out on grown ups 2

Rottentomatoes should never be used for movies older than the site.

Don't give a shite about movie reviews. If I want to see it then I go see it.

I only use review sites if I'm iffy on a movie. I can usually tell from the previews and people involved whether I want to see a movie or not.

I only check it to make sure the movie doesn't suck.

I can't help but hear a general consensus on a movie just through normal living.

For example, I hear people IRL and on Twitter and such mention how bleh Gatsby was. And guess what, it was bleh.

Usually the narratives are true.

Not at all, I don't look at anything regarding reviews/ratings until after. I just rely on word of mouth, trailers, or if I just like the source material(aka every superhero movie)

I'll check it if I'm on the fence about going to the theatre. Even then only if it is an absolute bomb will it effect me

Not at all. I usually know what I want to see. I just check here for movies on the fence.

I've got much different taste than critics so I don't even read reviews. I'm too low brow. Like I laughed my arse off at Movie 43 (whatever its called) the other night. And I've never seen a positive thing written about it.

This.

Really the only way it would affect me is if a movie I wasn't familiar with was getting incredible reviews...that would make generate a little bit of interest on my end to see what the movie is about. But even that alone wouldn't be enough to get me to go watch a movie in theaters.
