How many books have you read this year? What are some new must reads?

I feel like I've been reading a lot. But I have no idea how much the average m/tv boarder reads.
Also, I've been reading most classic literature or fantasy/sci Fi. I need some new stuff. If its TLDR, just scroll through and look at the titles.
This year I knocked out:
A Song of Ice and Fire (5) *Did the new season on HBO start in April? If so, I read them all this year.
Lord of the Rings (3) for the 3rd or 4th time
The Return and Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (2) That was my first time reading the Memoirs.
The Lost World. Finally read some of Doyles other character Proffesor Challenger. It was ok, nothing special. I'll pass on the rest of the Challenger story lines. He was incredibly annoying. Sherlock is cocky, sure, but good lord Challenger was even more cocky but with no redeeming qualities.
*Why did Crichton use the title The Lost World for the Jurrasic Park sequel? Are you that unoriginal. You basically steal the idea/principle of the original and then you actually name your second book the name of the book you took the idea from. That guy had to have been a douche.
I read Jurassic Park but didn't read Chrictons The Lost World bc I was pissed at him
Agatha Christies The Secret Adversary. I loved it. Don't hate.
The Road. I think that was this year
Watchmen for the second time
Silence of the Lambs
I read a few Aesophs Fable periodically.
I quit reading At the Earth Core. It just got crappier and Crappier with every page.
Currently 1/3 of the way through Dune. Not that big of a fan. But I feel like its getting better.
I'm forgetting one or two I know. So what you got? Anything new that is a must read?

I read incredibly slow. I get about 10 pages in a night, before i start to fall asleep, no matter the book. But this year i've read.

I read Gone Girl after the movie. It was awesome, and I liked it about equally to the movie. After that, I read Flynn's two other books, and they were not worth it in my opinion. Flynn has pretty cool stories in both books, but she doesn't know how to tell them. It's a chore to read her stuff. The sentences don't flow at all.
I also read Unbroken. It's awesome. The other stuff I read wouldn't interest the people on this board, so I won't even bother.

Probably around 20 or 25. I'm always reading.
Best book I read all year was The Orphan Master's Son. One of the best books I've read in several years actually.

Just finished the Black Dahlia. Great true crime fiction. Apparently they made a crappy movie out of it.
Currently reading Rising Tide by John Barry. I don't read enough history, but this may change that. Absolutely terrific. I can't recommend it enough.
Read one of Faulkner's earlier books this summer- Mosquitoes. Wasn't very good.

And the entire Jack Reacher series. Finally read the Ender's books. Annual re-reads of Brian Lumley's Necrosope series, Lord of the Rings and Hebert's Dune (yes, even his son's books).

Ever read any Isaac Asimov? My buddy keeps telling me to read I Robot and that it was possibly the worst book to movie adaptation of all time.

I'm only about 100 pages in so I haven't hit the really good stuff yet but it's been a pretty good read so far. From all accounts I'll probably have it as a must read as well.
I did a re-read of the ASOIAF series this year and I'm almost to the end of book 4, A Feast for Crows.

Just finished City of Thieves. Really enjoyed it. The author, David Benioff, is one of the creators/producer/writers of GOT for HBO.
Plan to read The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman next. The Magician books are being turned into a SyFy series.

Just finished re-reading Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. Probably going to pick up Lovecraft or Gaiman book next.

Some must reads
We are all completely besides ourselves - You may hate this book but it will make you think. Try to not look at the cover as it gives away the twist which will frick your brain 8000 different ways. or it did mine.
Station Eleven - Great dystopian/after the fall read
Bone Clocks - David mitchell always does a great job, this is no different

It isn't a mental heavyweight like some of the titles on your list, but I would recommend the Dresden files.
Nice fantasy setting but based in the "real world," with a certain snarkiness that would make smartasses every where laugh out loud at times while reading it.
