Decent little episode. Had some funny moments like Marshall saying the same Italian phrase over and over
Have to wonder if thats the shows way of phasing out Marshall and Lily for next year. Wasnt Segal rumored to not want another season?
And Ted was dead on about Barney and the Wedding. Barney and Robin must be the least convincing TV couple in history. They are setting up for what should be a disaster wedding but im sure well get one heartfelt speech from a character that makes it all better. Grr whatever, you guys know how i feel about those two.

Who knows, we always see Marshall and Lily together in the flash forwards, but not Barney and Robin. Maybe something happens?

Mircea Monroe is really good in Episodes too. She is a very good looking chick and pretty funny to boot.
Overall, i liked the episode tonight. I think it moved forward a bit and I know Segal was saying that he didn't care much for trying to keep it going so it might be a good way to phase him out for the most part, minus a few flash forward scenes that they could film in a couple days.

It certainly looks like this is their way of phasing segal for alot of season 9. My guess it'll be a lot like the office, with helms and krasinski both having season 9 arcs that gave them limited screen time allowing them to do other things, but still come back for the final episodes. My guess is that's why it's just Rome for a year. My on question is of all 5 actors Allison Hannigan has the least going on, so it's weird that she would be included. Unless they planned on actually showing Marshall and lily in rome

That or their time in Rome is cut short because The Captain dies over the Summer and they have to return to NYC.

Also Barney's response to Ted sets the stage for the tumultuous wedding, where things will be saved, by Ted most likely and at the cost of further chipping away at his emotional stability and causing him to leave the wedding reception abruptly and go to the train station where for the love of God he will finally meet her.

I think robin's behavior at the end confirmed what Barney said...she is cool with how he acts. Barney knows robin more than Ted.
Robin is also aware of who she is marrying.

Wasn't crazy about this one. Barney coming at Ted was kinda weird and awkward...and Ted at least had a point and wasn't trying to meddle (like he usually does).
However, I also agree with rondo that Barney knows Robin and the final scene with her in the jacket proves that.
The Lily and Marshall thing, meh...whatever. I can take them or leave them at this point, but I've never liked either of them anyway really. And I love how Lily would straight up turn down teh job without as much as even mentioning it to Marshall. That's not even remotely realistic and reflects poorly on her/their relationship IMO.

All in all, subpar episode, but I still enjoyed it.

Agreed. If anything it was an eye-opening moment for Ted and should help to put him in the right mindset to meet the mother. He needs to understand that almost every relationship he has had has been a disaster and he has no idea what makes a relationship successful.

We call that foreshadowing, folks. That end tag I think supports Ted, not Barney. We are headed for a wedding day disaster of some sort. Probably Ted will save the day at personal cost, which leads to him walking off by himself in the rain to the train station.
