Thought it was cool that the dead characters came back to make appearances in Frank's hallucinations

I expected him to be doing what his old boss is doing, not shoot him and get killed.

Better than last season but nowhere close to the first 2.

Still has too much Claire but at least this time they used Machiavellian plotting to get Claire to VP. Still implausible but they at least tried to make it more realistic than last season.

Hate her. Frank is fun. She sucks the life out of any scene.

Was expecting the series to end this season but I guess not. Pretty clear to me how they will end it which sucks since I hate Claire.

I know it's a spoiler thread so I haven't read any posts yet and won't read any after the response to this.

After the serious decline in quality of S3, how does this stack up? Back to the level of earlier seasons, about the same as 3, worse? Do people generally like the storyline for this season?

Slightly better. Claire is still almost as big if not a bigger player than Frank. Which I hate.

Not enough of Frank setting people up for the fall. More of the opposite.

I still think I enjoyed this more than season 3. But not by a wide margin. I didn't hate it like last season but I'm also not real interested in next season which will probably be Frank's end.

The last moments of the last episode somewhat changed my mind. It could be interesting next season, but I just don't see how Frank gets out of the mess.

And yes, I want Frank getting out of the mess. I'm sick of shows getting preachy at the end. I want the Villain sitting on the throne with an evil smile at the end.

Maybe it's because I'm a female, but I loved Claire more this season.

I HATED her in the first few episodes when she was actively undermining Frank at every turn - like, bitch, you can't put Frank Underwood in a corner.

But after he was shot and she came to the conclusion that when they combine their evil powers NO ONE can stop them, then I loved everything about what they did together.

She "killed" her own mother - with her mother's permission - to gain sympathy.

And holy shite, when Claire broke the fourth wall with Frank in the ending scene with "WE are the terror!" - I literally recoiled back in my seat.

I'd rank this season below season one, about even with season two, and WAY BETTER than season three.

And PS - can someone get Doug Stamper another storyline besides "white knight with a secret on a mission to save a pretty brunette whose life he secretly ruined"?

Boom. Another wasted Stamper season.

Most of the season I was anti-Claire, but towards the end she was better.

Still implausible all of the things they allow her to do. She isn't the VP yet. Meeting with the head of a terror organization is laughable. They were doing a better job of having her manipulate her way into positions but that felt weak. I'm not sold on her actually helping Francis. She just has no other options at this point. She is going to turn on him when the avenue opens up.

I would say I am more interested in season 5 than I was in season 4 after watching 3.

Just finished it,

I say it is the second best season. The highlights for me were seeing forgotten character Tom mount a competent and thorough investigation. I just remember him being a slimeball type of guy, but here he came off as a hero. I thought once Goodwin shot Underwood and was killed in the act, the whole conspiracy leading up to Franks ascension would go away, but thanks to Tom it didn't.

The low lights were the first 2 episodes and the two following Francis being shot in which he disappeared from the show for a while.

This, the constant close ups on Meechum just before the shooting were the dead giveaway.

That and the lay out of he background music with the long shot while he was shaking hands. My first thought would be he'd get stabbed by that woman

On episode 9, unbelievable how they make Durant so clueless on the Underwood's VP backdoor. How obvious was that

I thought it was on par with season 2, but not season 1. I think what made this season better than the last was that it felt more eventful. The last couple of episodes were pretty gripping. The part where Frank stands up to the terrorists was pretty awesome. I always love seeing Frank wreck shop on people.

I enjoyed it and I can't wait till next season. They definitely left us with something to look forward to.
