Am I the only one that likes The Hobbit more than LOTR? I didn't read the books, so maybe that has something to do with it. I just like the story and characters more..

I like the Hobbit but LOTR has incredible lasting power.

The Hobbit is a kids book and the movies were ok but didn't need to be a trilogy. LOTR is epic and brilliant.

I watched LOTR yesterday and its still good. But it does kind of drag on and is overly dramatic. The Hobbit movies are more compact, direct and action packed. Plus I like the dwarves more than the hobbits and Bilbo>Frodo..

The Hobbit was a CGI shite fest. It was clear that Jackson didn't want to make it and phoned it in.

LOTR extended version blu-ray FTW

I think there are few but I personally really dislike the hobbit movies for the most part. Way too much CGI and unfunny humor. The lack in physics is distressing and makes the movies hard to watch

Yes you are. I genuinely did not like the hobbit movies due to a number of reasons:

1) Wayyyyyy too much CGI. It was just plane lazy compared to the original trilogy to the point where it made the actor of Gandalf cry because talking to a screen for a whole movie isn't acting.

2) they added way too many cliche/bullshite things that weren't in the book. (Legolas, elvin love triangle, cartoonish characters, etc)

3) it was too goofy. Just because it's a prequel to the LOTR doesn't mean it wasn't dark and adult. They didn't have to go and make the troll king a blabbering fatty or the lake peoples leadership so weird looking.

4) made it into a trilogy when it didn't have to be. Just to drag it out.

5) etc etc

If frodo would just stop making weird noises and facial expressions when he got stabbed with things that'd be great

I agree with all your reasons. Well said. Although the CGI didn't bother me so much.

1. I don't mind CGI, especially in a sci-fi adventure movie. It was well done and necessary to tell the story.

2. Didn't read the books, so don't know or care what was left out or changed. Its a great story.

3. I like the humor and its darker than LOTR. There is more violence and better action. Way better enemies too. The pale orc and Smaug are awesome.

4. Ditto to LOTR. I could have edited that down to two 2 hour movies easily. Strange critcism to make. The 3rd Hobbit movie was barely 2 hours long.

There isn't one Hobbit film half as good as any Lord of the Rings film.

I don't know about that. I like the first LOTR movie best. In the 2nd movie, the battle of Helm's deep is pretty amazing. But after that, it's a steady decline. The 3rd LOTR movie is pretty awful IMO. I'd watch all 3 of the Hobbit movies over it and I think they are all better..

I understand having to adapt the books for the big screen but the Hobbit movies have to many major differences from the book for me.

LOTR made Frodo and Sam look like they were fudge packers.

I wanted to like the Hobbit but the LOTR is far superior in a lot of ways.

The Hobbit relayed way toooo much on CGI. That was one of my favorite aspects of the LOTR was the attention to detail and the craftsmanship of the sets, costumes, action sequences.

Going on to the action sequences, there was a far greater sense of scale and impact. Amon Hen, Helms Deep and Minas Tirith felt amazing to watch. The damn river sequence is still ridiculous just to think about.

I was hoping there Jackson was going to recreate the LOTR in doing the Hobbit but it just failed in a lot of ways.

But the LOTR movies did not create a major plot line that was not in the book.
