Friends was better, all six cast members really did an outstanding job.
Also while I love the Marshall and Barney characters, Ted Mosby was perhaps one of the worst characters of all time. He disgusted me on screen. His character really made the show suffer.

I like both. After watching friends again since it was put on Netflix I'll have to say that it's a better show.

I emphatically loved HIMYM until the last 10 mins of the show. They completely shite on themselves and ruined the series for me
I have never watched friends chronologically, I just always catch an episode here and there in syndication
friends wins by default for me but I'll reevaluate once I've done a complete watch of the show

Yeah I watched the finale with two other devoted fans and we all couldn't believe how they ended it. They wasted the entire last season only to cram the last episode full of terribleness

The only thing I liked about Friends was Jen Anniston and to a lesser extent Courtney Cox.
I'm pretty meh about HIMYM, but the Robin Sparkles/Robin Daggers story arc was fricking brilliant.

Yep, they should of stuck with not introducing the mother if they wanted to go that route or at least not had the season long wedding. They got a too well liked and fun character with Milioti. Plus they went to the well so many times with the over Robin bullshite and did the whole fly away scene that the relationship should of never been spoke of again.

I've never liked Friends. I loved HIMYM until they just ran out of ideas.

I like the structure of HIMYM more, but as an overall show, its Friends. Friends also had more realistic characters front and center than Friends did. As crazy as character in Friends could be, everyone knows someone like a character on Friends.

That's true. Some of their stories were really outstanding in how they were told. HIMYM's biggest problem was they just kinda seemed to go on aimlessly for a while without a real end in sight, then when they had an end in sight, the home stretch was awful. Then of course how the series actually ended was just really really bad. Not dexter bad, but bad.
As a desert island show I'd take Friends, it has more rewatchability (to me).
