Yea that was defnitely pretty spoilery. I wouldn't have clicked on it if the link says "The Mother speaks out about how the show ends"
Posted on 3/11/14 at 2:37 pm to FalseProphet
Definitely a spoiler. If she is right, then that blows my theory out of the water. But in the end, it doesn't matter how they choose to end it, it probably won't be good enough. They've done too much damage to the characters and story lines to fix it in a hand full of episodes IMO.
Posted on 3/11/14 at 3:04 pm to Bamatab
Yea, aren't there only two episodes left? They likely can't do anything that would truly satisfy me at this point.

There's lots of shite swirling about the finale now.

Hollywood will do anything to emasculate men in sitcoms. Marshall is one of the worst. It's sad because Marshall owned her when he brought up San Francisco earlier in the season during their fight and everyone knew she was wrong and being selfish.

Here's a theory. They are back at that place for Ted's sisters wedding, his mom just died, so his mom isn't going to be there for her daughters wedding

I don't really remember how much younger Ted's sister is, but the timing seems a bit odd. Isn't Ted around 34 at the current time in the season? If accurate, he'd be 44 at that time. Just seems like his sister would be pretty old to be getting married. Of course, I know people do get married later, but I figured dissecting theories is a part of this thread.

Yeah I think he is around 34.
I wanna apologize to the thread. I thought most would want to know what she said.

No worries. I appreciate you owning up to it. Most of the time, people that post spoilers get defensive and ornery.

Well I can guess what she said from the thread.
Not really a spoiler since it's just debunking a theory people had, doesn't really tell you much about the finale or story, just ruins a theory some people had...

that's when Marshall lost the moral high ground. I think he was right in his argument about taking the judgeship instead of Lily pursuing her dream of the week, relying on an insane person (the Captain). But bringing up San Fran was unfair. You can't be married to someone, say you forgive them, and then bring it up in arguments later to score points. that's not how forgiving works.
I agree on Lily, but I think Marshall was wrong in how he argued. I think he lost all moral authority, and I do like how the show explores an honest marriage. Behavior matters... act like a f'n adult, not a child. This show is all about growing up, and Marshall regressed there and failed to act like a mature adult in a functional relationship. Since its sitcom land, they can have their cake and eat it too (go to Italy and still be a judge, but I thought Marshall giving Lily what she wanted only after she gave up her dream for him and then realizing he is not a consolation prize was a nice way to handle it). It's a more subtle narrative point, but one the show handled quite well.
I still disagree with those arguing against Robin/Barney. It didn't gut him, it actually made hi ma human being instead of a joke delivery machine. He wasn't "Awesome" before, he was sad and pathetic. I'm glad this final season has shown the man child become a man and be the unwavering rock in his commitment (and in his future destruction of GMB). Barney's gone from a hugely problematic character to having one of the very best arcs in TV.

Yeah, but in making Barney a decent fellow, they totally just got rid of Robin's character and made her a Barney in female version. Barney's character could of just as easily been redeemed by Quinn.

I disagree. I think that Quinn forced Barney into becoming the person he had to become to marry Robin. Just MO

He could of married someone else then, I just feel like they sacrificed Robin to redeem Barney. The relationship between them initially was never a good plotline and it didn't last. I didn't agree with it then and still don't now.

I'm with you. I think they should've stuck with him ending up with Quinn. I mean what better way to redeem Barney than to have him be redeemed by a stripper. That would've been the perfect scenario for his character.
Instead, not only did they force Robin into becoming the female version of Barney, but they created a competition between him and Ted for her. It really went in opposition of Barney's charcter since despite all of his shortcomings, Barney has always been loyal to the T with the other characters. Forcing them together just messed up too much stuff for it to have been worth it IMO.

I was in such a rage last night when Marshall caved. We were praising him a few weeks ago for putting Lily in her place, but BOOM Lily's pregnant and she gets her dream just because she laid off the birth control.
I wouldn't put it past Lily to stop taking the pill in order to trap Marshall into getting her way.
Bitch.
And again with the Ted and Robin shite.
So now we're definitely going to get another, "Ted finally letting Robin go scene" now.

would be a great twist on what people think is going to happen.
