I just got these. Should I read them in chronological order or publication date?

When I was trying to find out a damn thing about these books, I saw that you can read the two different trilogies either way but the author recommends by publication date.

I've read the first one. It's okay. Kinda fun. The characters grow on you a little bit. The first book is more a couple of short stories than a single novel. Worth the read if you don't have anything else in mind to read. But it won't blow your mind.
