Wife and kids had been a couple of times, and enjoyed it, so I decided to give it shot today. Saw Star Wars at 12:20, arrived around 11:30 and picked up our tickets no problem. They let us into the theater around 11:45 and that's when it all went downhill. Hit our button for service, and didn't get a waitress until the previews started at 12:20. The theater was about 3/4 full, but they had what appeared to be 2 waitresses for the whole thing. Finally ordered our food, and it didn't make it out to us until about 1:30. We did fair better than some people, as the row below us got their pizza during the closing credits, and other people were complaining they never got anything at all. Our waitress never showed up again, and so after the credits rolled we stood around trying to figure out who to pay. Took another 20 minutes for somebody to print out a receipt and take a credit card. Our waitress had kindly put our entire row on our ticket, so we had to convince the new person checking us out that we really didn't eat over $267 worth of food for 3 adults and 2 kids

To top it all off, the movie was completely out of focus as well. Several of us complained, but apparently the "projectionist" was on vacation and there was nothing they could do. The manager informed me and others that their "system" does not allow them to do refunds or comp people for meals, but they did give us some passes that can be used anytime in the future. My wife swears its never this bad, so perhaps it was a case of holidays causing staffing issues, but no excuse for the movie to be out of focus. Not sure I'll go back

Sounds like some half arse dinner theater experience, and I hate the distraction of other people at ordinary theaters. No thank you.

There was a Movie Tavern in Aurora, CO that I was going to for the longest time but finally got tired of the distractions the waitresses and people caused while I was trying to watch the movie.

So what did I do? I started going to the theater where The Dark Knight Rises mass shooting happened. It's been renovated substantially since that night and it only costs $6.75 for an evening showing since that place is still taboo. By doing that I saved myself $20 per showing.

The experience sounds all to familiar with what I have been hearing about the place.

Awesome seats with terrible food and Service.

I wonder how AMC will do once they enter this arena. I am told the one on O'neal will surely being getting a full renovation soon. It will also be with the luxury seating, alcohol, and food options.

I have zero desire to go to a movie theatre that serves meals. And not because this is the 1,000th horror story I've heard about these places. I want to watch a movie, not have shrimp fried rice and see a few frames between bites. I can eat before or after my movie. Eating while watching just doesn't strike me as a theatre experience I want to have.

Its really not that hard to watch a movie and eat at the same time in a theater.

Alamo Draft house has you just write down what you want on a piece of paper that you leave up so you dont even talk to waiter once the show has started. The way the seating is set up the waiters are below you so they arent going to get in the way of the movie unless you feel the need to look down at them.

I like dinner/movie places b/c its much easier to deal with a disruptive person in the audience. You either press a button or put out that paper and they get dealt with quick.

The seats were fantastic. And with the ability to reserve seats online before you get there, it's a pretty cool set up. I could even live with average service and food, but today was way way below average unfortunately

Went and saw it again at Malco Wednesday night at nine.

No coke, sprite, or coke zero. Get pocorn and out of butter and almost out of popcorn salt. Staff said earlier shows blew them away. Uh huh.

Manager knew this was going to be the case six months ago and should have planned for it.

A friend was there last week. They ran out of Coke and something else...he was not happy. His wife said she was done with the place because she had a similar experience a couple weeks earlier.

Sorry I have to defend them just a bit b/ nobody knew the new Star Wars be this big.

It's currently blowing away all December records by a large margin. It also had the highest opening weekend ever which was just set this summer by Jurassic World.

Its unheard of for a December release to do this well.

The movie tavern experience is not for me. People scurrying around during the film and the stench of unfinished food all around me. Then they begin with the loud stacking of dishes and other distractions. If the food was phenomenal it might be a fun meal while a classic movie is on. But no way would I return for a first run movie.

Everyone in the theater business knew that it would be this big. None of the other theaters in town are in crisis mode. 1.5 to 2 billion was the forecast. It's going to do 2.

My brother went last night and told me their waiter fricked all of his orders up, at the end he told everyone he waited on that their bill was just 20 bucks and he would take care of it.

He also had the same problem of not being able to find the guy at the end of the film.

I guess to each their own.

My wife and I personally enjoy the hell out of it.

Food is normally enough priced.
Enjoy picking seats out ahead of time.
Love the seats.

Have been a few times and don't have any complaints.

Not really.

Most knew it would be big but the majority did not think it would make more money that Jurassic World in its opening weekend by such a large margin.

I'm sorry but they just didn't. They also did not expect its second weekend to be the biggest ever. They did not expect it to pass $1 billion in just 12 days w/o China added in like JW had earlier this year.

It is doing well above what anyone in the industry or Disney initially expected. Had it opened in July things would be different but December movies are just never expected to do anywhere near this.

I really don't think they thought it would be on pace to make more than Avatar. $2 billion seemed like it was pushing it at the time, never mind making more than $2.7.

Outside of the most comfortable movie seats ever, that you can reserve, every aspect of Movie Tavern was a horrible experience for me. The service is abysmal...like they hired the employees ten minutes before they started serving people. The constant people moving back and forth, the conversations with the servers, people using their phone lights to pay the check. Nothing about the place isn't a constant distraction while you're watching a movie. The menu is absurd, it's the size of a Cheesecake Factory, and if the theater's more than a third full, good luck getting anything. My buddy waited an hour for his beer when we were there last week. Will never go back. They should really be embarrassed by the experience they provide to see a movie.

Movie Tavern sounds pretty shite compared to Alamo Draft House then. There are no phone lights for bills or talking allowed in those.

Went today to see star wars at 1:25 with the wife and kids. Never been before. The waitress took our order during opening credits. Wife and I ordered a beer and the kids ordered sodas and candy. We didn't get our items until the movie was halfway over. We didn't even order food. We got the check just before closing credits. Waitress took cards from my row and did not come back until 20 minutes after the movie was over.

I like the chairs but there are too many opportunities to get distracted in the theatre. Don't think I will go back.
