On Wednesday evening, NBC News also confirmed that a Gore Verbinski-directed movie starring Steve Carell and tentatively titled "Pyongyang" (after the capital of North Korea) would not be "moving forward" at Fox's New Regency studio.

Verbinski, responding to the story first reported by Deadline.com, said in a statement that the film was forced to shut down and added: "I find it ironic that fear is eliminating the possibility to tell stories that depict our ability to overcome fear."

Remember when they changed the Red Dawn remake from being about China to being about North Korea? What happened? Why weren't we scared of them just a few years ago but now we are?

How we allow any of those degenerates to feel any kind of satisfaction is beyond me. A truly shitty time for movies and public expression in general.

Sony's insurance policy only covered a total loss, not a partial loss. And from the look of the previews, this movie was gonna bomb even without North Korea threatening people.

This is the best case for Sony, as they don't have to release this turd of a movie and take a bath, and instead collect on their insurance policy. They aren't afraid of North Korea, they are afraid of the other movies coming out Christmas day.

Can we get North Korea to protest the release of the Ghostbusters remake?

Can we hack Hollywood and keep them from remaking movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, National Lampoon's Vacation, the motherfricking GOONIES, WarGames, Poltergeist, Commando, PORKY'S, House Party, The Neverending Story (that actually ended), Flight of the Damn Navigator, and the fricking WILD BUNCH.

frick Hollywood. And more importantly, frick North Korea, because now Hollywood will retreat even further into its safe zone shell of shoveling out drek, reboots, and sequels. fricking ridiculous.
