He's baaaack! Star Wars fans were left with a lot of reasons to be angry after the Expanded Universe was scrapped for Disney to start from scratch (you can't blame them for not wanting to have to adhere to decades worth of novels, video games, and comics), but chief among them was the disappearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a villain created by Timothy Zahn in the novel Heir to the Empire.
He took over the Empire following the events of the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi, but this version will be making his presence felt in the years covered by Star Wars Rebels. His return is no doubt going to add some weight to theories that he may Supreme Leader Snoke, but regardless of whether or not that's the case, his return is great news. It was also confirmed that Star Wars: Thrawn is being written by Timothy Zahn (which will reintroduce him to canon when it goes on sale in April).

That spinks dude should be relieved.

Since they erased canon once, why would I want to read books that might be erased in just a few years when they reboot the whole thing over again?

sound logic, my man. Stay happy .
I've read some of the new books. Hit or miss quality wise. Dark Disciple and Bloodline stood out. Will read Thrawn

Glad to have him back, though really everyone knew he would return at some point.

One of the best SW characters ever created IMO, glad he is back to being canon.

canon never bothered me. It happened, it didn't happen, no bother. Glad Zahn is writing it though, none of the new cannon books have been that great.

I think the bigger thing that pissed most people off was the deletion of Mara Jade.

That or the whole Jedi Academy stuff.

The biggest problem with the retcons was the severity of it. It's not just a retcon of post RoTJ material or material you don't like. They took a sledgehammer to any Star Wars material that wasn't included in the films, The Clone Wars, or Rebels.
I don't think the reality has set in on most people as to quite literally how much content that actually is, and it's not as if they're marking it non-canon but leaving those areas of the Star Wars story relatively unexplored. With films like Rogue One, they are actively replacing well established Star Wars lore with new stuff that may or may not be as good as the old.
The Star Wars comic series from Marvel has been pretty good aside from committing the cardinal sin of having Luke fight Vader before ESB. The novels have been pretty much throwaway affairs.
In particular, I feel like the Star Wars universe as a whole will end up far more dumbed down and less interesting that it was pre-Disney takeover. I don't like the idea of a group of guys in a boardroom dictating what Star Wars is an what it isn't. I feel like there was a lot more freedom in the old EU and Star Wars was a much more fan-centric proberty then rather than now which it will be primarily a cash cow ala the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I can only hope Disney cools their jets post-Episode 9 with the mainline Star Wars films and starts working on a number of anthology films to flesh out this new universe all the while giving the fans time to miss the main Star Wars films and giving them time to come up with a good story for a new trilogy. If they jump right into Episode 10, Star Wars is pretty much dead.

A couple of things I've noticed.
- Clearly some time has passed. Ezra looks noticeably older.
- Sabine's hair is turning platinum blonde. I wouldn't be surprised at all if when Phasma removes her helmet it turns out that she's actually Sabine Wren.
- I also think that Benicio del Toro's character is Ezra in Episode 8.

Yep, still convinced Ezra turns to the dark side to save his friends.
I take it Kanan is blind now?

Does she randomly wake up one day with a British accent?

This never occurred to me before and now I am questioning everything.

Assuming that Luke isn't, is it possible that Ezra is Rey's father?

Could new-look Ezra:

That would be a stretch!
Snoke's identity, assuming he has an identity to be revealed, will be interesting since he's not even from "our" galaxy (using our to imply the galaxy that the empire holds sway over.)
Or he could be just some guy named Snoke.

The stormtrooper program results in mental reconditioning so it could develop over 30 years.
Remember Brad Friedle, the US Men's Soccer Team goalie? He played for a British team for 10 years and his accent changed.
