He was responsible for the best episode of season 5 and the two best of 6. It's at least a minor blow, considering the quality of his episodes compared to the rest.

Some of them take a season off and that might make more sense seeing as they would probably want him around for the final season as well. I wouldn't look too much into that

This. Plus he probably had a bunch of new projects to work on given his new acclaim. I highly doubt he was snubbed.

I read that he's working on a project for Netflix. HOpefully he's back for season 8. They said there will be 13 hours remaining split over 2 seasons.

D&D have already said there are only 13-15 episodes left in the entire series

Yeah. I've seen him mentioned to direct the first episode of something called Altered Carbon and possibly the fourth episode of Iron Fist, both on Netflix. Not sure beyond that though.
